Michelle Frew '91 returned to her alma mater in June 2024 as the Tritons head softball coach with 28 years as a head coach at the Division II level, with 1,002 career wins. She enters her second year at the helm of the Tritons softball program for the 2026 season.  In her first season with the Tritons, she guided the team to a 30-20 record, the second most wins in program history. She led the Tritons to six single-season records, including: conference wins, Hannah Taylor - hits and RBIs, Lex Difato - runs and singles, and Brandilyn Reymer - strikeouts. She coached Hannah Taylor to one of the best single-seasons in program history, garnering second team All-American honors from the NFCA and D2CCA, D2CCA South Region Player fo the Year, and SSC Player fo the Year honors. She was tabbed the MEC Coach of the Year in 2024, and her staff was named the NFCA Atlantic Region Staff of the Year as well.  She won the Mountain East Conference regular season and conference championship in 2023 and 2024 with Charleston. She also led the squad to the NCAA Super Region in 2023. In her time at Charleston, she coached eight All-Americans, 18 all-regions players, and 20 all-conference selections, including a three-time player of the year. Familiar with the Sunshine State Conference, Frew spent 25 years as the head coach at Rollins, from 1995-2021. With the Tars, she led the program to 11 NCAA Tournament appearances and five Sunshine State Conference Championships while coaching 12 All-Americans, 122 All-SSC Selections, and five SSC Players of the Year. She is also a four-time SSC Coach of the Year (1998, 2010, 2011, 2021).  Frew was a two-sport star during her time in a Triton uniform, playing women's basketball and softball from 1987-91.  A guard in women's basketball, she was a three-time all-conference selection, garnering all-freshman (1987-88),  honorable mention (1988-89), and second-team (1990-91) honors. She was also selected to the all-tournament team in 1989. She currently ranks in several career records, including second in field goals made (528), third in points (1,370), fifth in free throws made (314), sixth in assists (261), sixth in steals (149), 11th in points per game (13.4), 12th in field goal percentage (48.26), 16th in games played (102), and 18th in rebounds (442).  A catcher in softball, she was a three-time all conference selection as well, receiving second team honors in 1988 and 1989 and honorable mention accolades in 1990.  She currently ranks in numerous career records including: fourth in stolen bases (48), fifth in batting average (.326), 13th in singles (100), 15th runs (66), 16th RBIs (61), 17th slugging percentage (.361), and 20th in walks (49). She graduated from Eckerd in 1991 with a degree in human development. She obtained her master's in guidance counseling from Nova Southeastern.  She is married to Steve Frew '88 and has two kids, Erin and Dylan.    YEAR OVERALL SSC NOTES 2025 30-20 16-14

Steve Frew rejoined his alma mater in the summer of 2024 as an assistant coach working primarily with the pitching staff. Frew has been a fixture in the dugout next to Head Coach Michelle Frew throughout her career. he enters his second year on the Tritons staff for the 2026 season.  In his first season with the Tritons, he helped the team to a 30-20 record, the second most wins in program history, while setting the single-season wins mark for SSC game. He led the pitching staff to 323 strikeouts, doubleing their total from the previous year. Brandily Reymer set the single-season strikeout record.  In 2024, he helped guide the University of Charleston to the World Series following a program-record 51-8 record.  In 2023 and 2024, the Golden Eagles staff finished with a 1.77 ERA and 1.89 ERA, respectively, both marks ranked 15th nationally. Both years, the team's WHIP ranked in the top five in the national rankings as well. UC set the programs shutout record twice, a record which stood for over 40 years.  At Rollins, the team's ERA ranked among the top 10 in Division II NCAA  13 times, including earning the top ranking in 2011 and 2019. Over his career, Frew has assisted coaching 24 All-Americans, 96 all-region honorees, and 144 all-conference winners.  Frew has also served as the assistant director of Michelle Frew's summer fastpitch camps and clinics for more than two decades. Frew has been developing younger pitchers in camps, clinics, and through pitching lessons for two decades.  Frew has served as an official scorer for the Orlando Rays minor league baseball team and at Walt Disney's Wide World of Sports events including the WNBA. Frew also filled the role of spotter/statistician for Florida Citrus Sports NCAA Bowl Games and the Orlando Predators Arena Football Club. A 1988 graduate of Eckerd, Frew was a pitcher on the baseball team. He received a master's degree from Slippery Rock University in 1991 and a doctoral degree in higher education from Nova Southeastern in 2001.  Frew works for Phoenix Defense as an Integration and Test lead. Steve is married to Michelle and they have two children Erin and and Dylan.
