Kyra Wendling

Head Coach

Kyra Wendling has been appointed as the interim head basketball coach for the 2024-25 season after assisting the program in 2023-24. Wendling helped the Tritons to their highest finish in 14 years as the squad went 19-8 (12-2 in the North Region) overall and advanced to the Elite 8 at the NWAC Basketball Championships.  Wendling's most recent stop prior to Edmonds was at Seattle University as the women's basketball video coordinator. Prior to Seattle U, she was an assistant coach at Everett Community College, where they won their first North Region title in 13 years. Prior to Everett she was a Graduate Assistant Coach at Division II Hawai'i Pacific University under Coach Reid Takatsuka. While on the staff, the Sharks compiled a 42-16 record, were the Pacific West Conference Champions, made the NCAA Tournament, were ranked as high as 25th in the nation, all while having the top scoring offense in the country at the Division II level. During that time, the program produced one All American, two All West Region, five All Pacific West Conference players, and two Newcomers of the Year. Before HPU, she coached for the V-Jam Basketball Club, Agoura High School, and was a private trainer in Southern California. During her time coaching in California, she coached 3 All State California players, 8 All Marmonte League and 5 All Ventura County players, 2 ESPN Top 100 players, as well as a handful of players who continued school and basketball at various NCAA and NAIA levels. Wendling played junior college basketball at Oxnard Community College where her team holds the record for the second most wins in school history. There she was a Scholar Athlete and a Team Captain. She then transferred to Hawai'i Pacific University, where she was again a Scholar Athlete, to finish her collegiate basketball career. She earned her Bachelor's and Master's Degree in Communications from HPU. Wendling, a Southern California native, moved from O'ahu, Hawai'i to Washington where she continues to coach for the Northwest Blazers AAU program. She is also a certified personal trainer and strength and conditioning coach.
