El Camino College Men's Basketball

          EXPERIENCE JUNE 2012 CURRENT HEAD MEN'S BASKETBALL COACH/KINESIOLOGY PROFESSOR, EL CAMINO COLLEGE      We recruit high-character student-athletes who excel in the classroom (overall team GPA over 3.0 last year) and whom are willing to serve in our community. Some of our core values include (but are not limited to) physical/mental toughness, self/group accountability, academic success, a "team-first" mind-set, valuing others more than oneself and setting/achieving specific team & individual goals.       Our program defines success by graduating and matriculating our student-athletes (by the completion of their 2-years of eligibility). We push our student-athletes to earn a 3.0+ GPA upon graduation to enhance their opportunities to play at the next level. We value overall development, discipline and maturity MORE than wins on the basketball court! Our philosophy is that wins and losses are determined by the number of student-athletes who move on to play at a 4-year college and finish their B.A. Degree (once finish playing for our program). We (my staff and I) are in the business of changing lives for the better through the game of basketball! We believe the game of basketball (and all components of the required training, hard-work, adversity, etc.) will prepare our young men for life after basketball. We want to inspire our young men to impact the next generation is a positive light...as husbands, fathers and leaders within their respective communities!

My name is Coach Josh Williams, Assistant Coach for the men's basketball program at El Camino College. I've been an Assistant Coach for the program for 4 seasons and I'm currently in my 5th season. I've been involved with various basketball that focused on the exposure and development of the student athlete particularly at the high school level. During the summer of 2017, I coached and helped spearhead a camp provided by the Drew League Foundation which encompassed a sports psychology workshop along with skill development for the camp participants aged 13-17. I worked closely with sport psychology coaches and advisors to help the athletes realize the importance of understanding psychology while playing basketball and how they are directly affected by the various aspects that affect their psyche. In 2018 I was an Assistant Coach for Legacy in the 2018 Drew League Pro-Am. I coached athletes who played at various levels including but not exclusive to high level Division l, mid-major Division l, and professional-overseas.
