Cory Greiner
Head Coach
Greiner joined the Emory men's soccer program as an assistant coach in August of 2013. During his three seasons with the team, Greiner has helped lead the Eagles to a 33-15-6 overall record, and an NCAA Tournament berth in 2014. Under Greiner, Emory finished second in the University Athletic Association in 2013, third in 2014 and fourth in 2015. With Greiner on the staff, the Eagles have combined to win an All-America honor, two all-region awards, and 17 all-conference certificates over the last three seasons. Greiner came to the Emory program after serving as the Technical Director of the SOCA Soccer Club in Charlottesville, Virginia, since 2009. Among his duties included the coaching of elite youth boys teams (U10-U19), the implementation of a year-round player development model, and the oversight and management of all camps and clinics. As head coach, Greiner led two teams to VYSA State Cup Championships, the U18 Boys in 2008-09 and the U16 Boys in 2011-12. Prior to his Technical Director responsibilities, Greiner was the Coaching Director for the Challenge Program for SOCA from 2006-09. A Virginia Olympic Development Program staff coach since 2010, Greiner holds both the USSF National 'B' License and USSF National Youth License. "Cory brings a lot of experience as the Technical Director from SOCA, an elite soccer club in Virginia," Emory head coach Sonny Travis said upon Greiner's appointment. "He played at a very high level and, as a successful club coach, has made strong contacts throughout the South Region. He will be able to help our program technically, defensively and in recruiting. We are looking forward to having Cory join our staff." As a player, Greiner was a four-year starter at Virginia Commonwealth University (1999-2002) and helped the Rams to NCAA Division I Tournament berths in 1999 and 2002. He earned his bachelor's degree from VCU in sport management with a business minor in 2003. Updated December 2015
