Bryan Haley
Head Coach
Haley has brought the Endicott baseball team to within one win of the NCAA Division III College World Series twice (2013, 2014), won two CCC Championships, and currently sports over 250 victories in just nine seasons at the helm of the program. Throughout the last five seasons, Haleys teams have averaged 30 wins per year due in large part to his foundation for the program based on his three core beliefs. Haley believes in creating an Endicott baseball family, in which members of the team support each other in all facets of College life, both on and off of the field. He also expects that his players act as men of high quality character, who will strive to make good decisions, help others and work to put themselves in good situations. Finally, Haley expects his players to be physically and mentally tough competitors. My focus is on getting players ready for the marathon run of the season, says Haley. This includes making sure that they are physically durable enough to handle a 50+ game season and mentally tough enough to deal with the adversity that comes with playing the game of baseball. Haley implements a rigorous year-round strength and conditioning program, which he believes is critical to on field success. The teams workouts feature both traditional weight lifting as well as baseball specific workouts that focus on core strength, explosiveness, agility and flexibility. The team also regularly practices positive mental focus, through various breathing, relaxation and visualization exercises. Players on Haleys teams are expected to be fierce competitors. The passion for competition is reinforced every day during practice and team meetings. I expect our players to love to compete and have a passion for the game of baseball, says Haley. In addition to their passion for the game, Haleys players are expected to bring a positive attitude, and their maximum concentration and effort, each and every day to both practices and games. Only focusing on what we, individually, can control, is the key to the success of the individual and the team. We make a concerted effort to focus on the process of what leads to success, as opposed to only looking at results. Coach Haley sees his primary role as that of a teacher. His goal is to work with and develop each player, in order to help them to reach their maximum potential as a ball player. Off of the field, Haley feels that its his duty to motivate his players to excel and become successful in all of their individual roles as men. Haley believes that having the players involved in team leadership is critical to their cohesion as a unit. He strongly relies on upperclassmen to mentor newcomers to the program. Haley also meets often with the players on his team and encourages them to speak with him at any time about their roles on the squad or any concerns or issues that they are having. One of the ways in which he encourages leadership across his roster is through his Players Committee, a group made up of two representatives from each class. The Players Committee meets periodically to discuss team issues and make decisions on anything from equipment orders to team discipline. At the top of Coach Haleys list of priorities is his teams academic success. The players need to take advantage of the opportunity to develop in the classroom and through real world experience, during their required internships. Along with enjoying the overall experience of the College, Endicotts value lies within the career opportunities that are developed through their work on internships.
