Tim Byram

Head Coach

Byram since the start of the millennium.  The program has developed into one of the top teams in both the conference and New England, having made the conference finals seven out of the last 10 seasons, winning four of them.  With an overall record of 293-233 (.557) and a conference record of 107-25 (.810) in the 15 years with Byram at the helm, the team is looking to continue the level of success and return to the NCAA tournament.   One of Byrams beliefs is to schedule top out of conference teams to challenge his team throughout the season.  The team's schedules over the past 15 years have perennially been one of the toughest in the region.. The results are easy to see by having been selected for post season play each of the last 10 seasons. Generally, we will schedule as tough as possible and play the best competition to get ready for post season play, Coach Byram stated.  Throughout the difficult schedule, travel and practices, academics have remained a top priority in his program.  During his tenure, 28 women have been named Academic All-Conference and there have been three that were named the Conference Senior Scholar Athlete of the Year.   Dedication in the classroom is a must in my program.  The women know that they are here for a quality education and that playing volleyball is secondary to that.  We take pride in our performance both on and off the court. Within his philosophy, Byram likes drills and exercises that foster competition.  The large majority of his practices and drills focus around game-like situations.   We will do more drills in a six on six format then small group drill work because it has to be game like.  Practicing game situations will only strengthen our chances for success when the situation arises in the middle of a match.  With such a competitive environment in the gym that challenges the women to push each other to be the best, the individual accolades have surely been received.  There have been numerous weekly and individual post season honors earned by the players but the award the team is always striving for is the CCC Championship.  Each player knows that they will all be dependent on each other for the team to raise its fifth banner this season.
