Fairfield University Women's Golf

Roberto was the head coach of the Stags mens golf team dating back to the 1998-99 campaign and took the reins of the womens team beginning in 2005-06. Roberto is a three-time MAAC Coach of the Year, earning the award with the mens team in 2004, 2008 and 2013. He also mentored back-to-back individual MAAC Champions in Steve Burak and Alex Taylor, who claimed the McLeod Trophy in 2013 and 2014, respectively, to earn berths in the NCAA postseason. The Stags were just three strokes back in the race for the team title in both of those campaigns. In addition, Roberto coached the mens team to the New England Intercollegiate Golf Association (NEIGA) Championship in 2014. He also guided the men to their first-ever ECAC Championship in 2015 and won back-to-back womens ECAC Championships in 2014 and 2015. Roberto has served on the Golf Coaches Association of American (GCAA) Coaches Congress and the executive board of the NEIGA, including a two-year stint as the organizations president. He has received two major honors from the NEIGA, earning the Gordon McCullough Award in 2010 and the Presidents Award in 2012. Roberto has a B.S. in Criminal Justice from Sacred Heart University and earned a Masters Degree in Psychology from the University of Bridgeport.  He and his wife, Kathy, reside in Trumbull, Conn., and have two daughters and a son, and two grandchildren.

Doug Holub was named the Director of the Fairfield University Men’s and Women’s Golf in September of 2016. Holub joined the Stags with more than a decade of coaching and teaching experience within the golf industry. In 2024-25, Holub won his first team MAAC Championship as a head coach as the Fairfield men beat the field to hoist the trophy in Lake Buena Vista. That victory included Tadgh Burke's earning the McLeod Trophy as the individual MAAC Champion, along with Holub collecting his fifth combined MAAC Coach of the Year Award. Burke's individual win marked the third stragiht season in which a Fairfield golfer won the McLeod Trophy. Maria Beltran was the 2024 women's champion and went on to turn in the best individual performance at an NCAA Regional in MAAC Women's Golf history. The prior year, Killian McGinley won the men's McLeod Trophy to reach the NCAA postseason. Holub's five MAAC Coach of the Year awards include two on the men's side (2021, 2025) and three as the women's coach (2021, 2022, 2023). In 2021, Holub was first coach in MAAC history to win Men's and Women's Coach of the Year in the same season. Following both the 2018-19 and the 2020-21 campaigns, the women's program earned the WGCA Mark Laesch Award as the most improved team in the nation. A member of the Professional Golfer’s Association of America since 2007, Holub has been a teaching professional at Fairchild Wheeler Golf Club since 2011. Holub earned a degree in Sociology from Florida Southern College in 1999. He is also a graduate of Fairfield Prep.
