Fairmont State University Men's Golf

Rogers was named the new women's golf coach at Fairmont State University on July 1, 2015.   Rogers has been the owner and operator of the Riverbend Golf Club in Buckhannon since February of 2004 and has previously served as the women's golf coach (2010-12) and Director of Golf (2012-13) at West Virginia Wesleyan College.   "I am excited to announce Mike as the next women's golf coach at Fairmont State University, said McNeely. "Mike has a very impressive resume and has a lot of experience working with the PGA and as a golf professional."   Rogers is the Vice President of the Professional Golfers' Association of American (PGA) West Virginia Chapter and will ascent to the position of President of the organization with a four-year term starting in 2017.   "I would like to thank Fairmont State Director of Athletics for the opportunity to lead the women's golf program," Rogers said. "I consider it an honor to be coaching at an institution with such a great athletic history and reputation."   Prior to taking over as the owner and operator of Riverbend Golf Club, Rogers served as a teaching professional at Buckhannon Country Club from 2003-04 and has also served as Head Golf Professional at Glade Springs Resort (2002-03) and Elks Golf Course (1997-02).   Rogers got his start in collegiate coaching as the head coach of the men's golf team at Davis & Elkins College from 1999-02.   Rogers was honored as the PGA Apprentice Player of the Year in 2000 and was also a member of the PGA President's Council on "Growing the Game" in 2007-09. He has also been a member of the WVPGA Board of Directors since 2007.   Rogers received his Bachelor's Degree in Accounting and Finance from Marietta College in May of 1986. He continued his education by receiving a Master's Degree in Business Administration from West Virginia Wesleyan in December of 1988.   Rogers is also a graduate of the Professional Golfers' Association of America Golf Professional Training Program.
