Fairmont State University Women's Softball

Brooke Lowery enters her fourth season as the head softball coach at Fairmont State. She was named the head coach in July of 2022 after being the assistant softball coach at Seton Hill University in Greensburg, Pennsylvania. The Falcons posted a record of 36-19-1 in Lowery's third season with a conference record of 19-9, winning their third-consecutive North Division title. Five members of the team were honored with All-MEC accolades headlined by Alexa Foresha who named Freshman of the Year and All-MEC Second Team. Others named on the All-MEC teams were Delany Haller (First Team), Bella Hess (First Team), Elizabeth Waszkiewicz (Second Team) and Caitlin Morey (Second Team). Haller was also named D2CCA All-Region while Emma Paul earned NFCA All-Region honors. In 2024, Fairmont State achieved a program-record 40 wins as it went 40-13 with a record in the MEC of 22-6 as it defended its North Division title. Six players were honored with postseason conference awards headlined by Delaney Haller who was named Freshman of the Year and All-MEC First Team. Joining Haller on the MEC award list were Emily Riggs (First Team), Hannah Workman (First Team), Abbie Keilholz (Second Team), Bella Hess (Second Team) and Katy Darnell (Second Team). Haller earned another postseason distinction as she was named to the NFCA Atlantic All-Region Second Team. Emily Riggs and Hannah Workman also received CSC Academic All-District honors for the 2024 season. In her first season as head coach, Lowery and the Falcons went 33-23 overall and 21-11 in conference contests en route to winning the first North Division title in program history. The Falcons had four All-MEC honorees as Peyton Wetherholt, Emily Riggs and Hannah Workman were named to the First Team while Alexa Andrews was named All-MEC Second Team. Riggs and Workman were later named All-Atlantic Region by the NFCA and D2CCA. Riggs was also named to the D2CCA All-American Team as a Honorable Mention Selection. Five members of the team received CSC Academic All-District Honors: Katy Darnell, Cailyn Kassay, Shelby Reed, Peyton Wetherholt and Hannah Workman.  In 2022, Lowery and the Griffins appeared in their first ever Division II National Championship. SHU finished the year as the winningest team in program history at 42-12 and earned back-to-back Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) West titles.   At Seton Hill, Lowery prepared the softball team for all practices and games and was responsible for compiling scouting details and recruiting prospective student-athletes to campus.   Prior to Seton Hill, Sullivan was a graduate assistant at Frostburg State for two years under head coach Bill Vasko. In her first season with the Bobcats, Lowery helped the team to 17 wins and a trip to the CAC Tournament.   In her four-year collegiate career with NCAA Division I George Mason University, Lowery had a career batting average of .267 with 27 doubles, 46 runs batted in, and 52 walks. As a senior, Lowery posted career bests in the categories of batting average, hits, doubles, home runs, RBIs, walks, on-base percentage, slugging percentage, runs scored, games played, and at-bats. The 14 doubles her senior season are the third most in a single season in school history.   She was an NCAA Senior CLASS Award Nominee and served as the Assistant Activities Director for the Sport Management Society during her final year at GMU. Amy Hills was hired in July 2025 as an assistant coach under head coach Brooke Lowery. Prior to Fairmont State, Hills was a Graduate Assistant with the University of Charleston softball program. In her role, she works primarily with hitting, infield, and outfield development, helping Charleston to back-to-back MEC Tournament Championships (2024 & 2025), an NCAA Atlantic Regional title (2025), and a 2024 NCAA Division II World Series appearance. During her tenure, the Golden Eagles have ranked among the nation’s best both offensively and defensively, including a .343 team batting average (#15 in NCAA DII, 2024) and a .980 fielding percentage (#1 in NCAA DII, 2024). Her efforts have also contributed to multiple All-Conference, All-Region, and All-American selections, including Conference Players and Pitchers of the Year. A native of Virginia, Hills played collegiately at Rollins College before pursuing her Master of Science in Strategic Leadership at the University of Charleston.
