Patrick Corrigan

Head Coach

Patrick Corrigan was named Head Men's Basketball Coach at Ferrum in June 2022. In his first three seasons, the Panthers have advanced to three straight ODAC Tournament quarterfinals, one of only six ODAC programs to do so in that timeframe, and achieved back-to-back 16 plus win seasons for the first time at Ferrum since 1991-1993. In the 2024-25 season the Panthers finished 17-9 (9-7 ODAC), an 11-game improvement (eight-game improvement in conference) since 2022, and standalone 6th place in the ODAC – the first time ever in a full season at Ferrum. Ferrum's 17 wins marks the highest win total since 2011, and tied for the second best finish since 1993. The Panthers advanced to the ODAC quarterfinals, and ended the ‘25 season ranked 67th in Division III (masseyratings.com) – 2nd best finish since Massey ratings started in 2003. The Panthers were ranked as high as 50 on Massey ratings, and received votes for national top 25 vote on D3hoops.com. In the 2023-24 season, the Panthers posted 16 wins (highest since 2011, and 2nd highest win total since 1999 at the time), defeated nationally ranked #19 Virginia Wesleyan (first time since 1989), and won at Roanoke for first time since 2010. The Panthers won a first round playoff game and advanced to the ODAC Tournament quarterfinals. They finished ranked 88th in Division III (masseyratings.com) – 2nd best finish at the time since Massey ratings started in 2003. Ferrum was ranked as high as 50 on Massey ratings, and received a national top 25 vote on D3hoops.com.   In the past three seasons, the Panthers have recruited four second team All-ODAC players; Shone Hicks & Calvin Washington in 2023, Jikari Johnson in 2024, and Charles Tart in 2025. Hicks signed a professional contract with Raiders Basket in Finland and was named Offensive Player of the Year in his league, and then signed a second contract with Club Corbon in Paraguay, and a third contract with Indios in Dominican Republic. Calvin Washington signed a year professionally in China.    Corrigan was also invited to the 2023 Jay Bilas Coaches Leadership Program, designed to help experienced Division I assistant coaches and up and coming head coaches continue to refine philosophy both on and off the court. Additionally, Corrigan was selected by Silver Waves Media to a Rising Star list – one of 75 successful up and coming Division 1 assistants and small college head coaches around the country.    Corrigan returned to Ferrum from Cal Poly Pomona, an NCAA Division II program in Pomona, California. At Cal Poly Pomona, Corrigan served as Assistant Coach with the Broncos, which closed out the 2021-22 season with an NCAA Tournament appearance. Pomona was ranked as high as #21 nationally, had the 13th ranked defensive nationally, defeated two nationally ranked opponents, and had three All-Conference Selections.   Before Cal Poly Pomona, Corrigan spent the 2020-21 year as Director of College Placement and UA Coach for West Coast Elite, the largest AAU organization and event operator on the west coast where they sent 40 players to play college basketball. During that year he also served as an assistant coach at Windward High School where he coached three ESPN top 50 players and they made it to the quarter finals of state playoffs.   Previously, he served as Assistant Men's Basketball Coach at Ferrum in 2018-19, then was promoted to Associate Head Coach for the 2019-20 season. He helped the Panthers post a 15-12 record during the 2019-2020 season (a 10 win improvement), highlighted by a pair of wins over nationally ranked Guilford College (#19) and the programs first ever win in the Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) Tournament to advance to the quarterfinals.   Corrigan served five seasons on the men's basketball coaching staff at NCAA Division I UNC Charlotte from 2013-2018. He was the Associate Director of Basketball Operations for his last three years, and a program assistant/graduate assistant the first two years. During his five years with the 49ers, a highlight of the program was winning the 2013 Puerto Rico Tip-Off Tournament with a win over #14 Michigan. Corrigan worked for Alan Major, Ryan Odom (now VCU head coach), and Mark Price (former 1st team All-NBA player, & NBA assistant).  During his time they saw 10 players sign professional contracts.   A native of Richmond, Virginia, Corrigan was a four-year point guard at Hampden-Sydney College, where he was a part of the ODAC regular season championship team that went 23-5 (14-2), and went to the NCAA Tournament in 2013. He served as team captain his senior year and graduated with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Applied Math and Psychology in 2013.
