Brian Beil

Head Coach

Beil starts his sixth season as the cross country coach at Flagler. He also completed his second season as Flagler's indoor track and field coach in last winter. Hired in 2011, he is the seventh head men's coach and the eighth head women's coach. Last year, he helped coach Andrew Smith to the 2016 NCAA Division II Men's Indoor Track & Field Championships in Pittsburg, Kansas. He earned All-America honors in the mile run. In 2015, Corey Mundy earned Flagler's first men's runner of the year for the Peach Belt Conference and he competed in his second consecutive NCAA National Championship after finishing in fourth place at regionals. The women finished third at the PBC Championship and placed three runners on the all-conference team. Hanna Ramirez and Lauren Rodriguez went on to earn all-region accolades. In the inaugural indoor track season (2015-16), Beil helped coach Mundy to all-region honors in the one mile and 3000 meter runs. Mundy also ran a leg on the distance medley relay team.  In 2013, he coached the women's cross country team to its first Peach Belt Conference title and Sara Mund won the individual race. On the men's side, Corey Mundy won the individual title. Mundy broke the school's 8K record with a time of 24:29.75., He has coached 20 All-PBC runners. Beil has coached Mundy to an all-Southeast Region and three consecutive all-Peach Belt Conference honors. Taylor Strekel has also earned consecutive all-conference honors on the women's side. Mund was selected as the PBC co-Runner of the Year as well as Freshman of the Year in 2013. Under Beil, Mundy and Strekel earned Peach Belt Conference Freshman of the Year honors in 2011. Strekel went on to earn all-region honors. Three Flagler runners (Michael Lambert, Mundy and Strekel) earned all-conference honors in 2011. Beil served seven years as the head mens and womens cross country coach at George Washington University in Washington, D.C., a member of NCAA Division I and the Atlantic-10 Conference. He also spent three seasons (2001-03) as GWs assistant coach. Prior to his time at GW, Beil was a volunteer assistant coach at his alma mater East Carolina University. At GW, Beil had plenty of success recruiting in Florida. He has recruited nine student-athletes from the Sunshine State in his career, including three from Melbourne on the 2010 rosters. Beil recruited two more student-athletes, one from Tampa and the other from Titusville, for the upcoming season at GW. While at George Washington, Beils teams have combined for seven first-place team finishes, and he has had over 30 student-athletes combine to earn 65 commissioners honor roll certificates. He has also seen a pair of runners earn academic all-conference honors, including two-time A-10 Student-Athlete of the Year Megan Hogan. Hogan has starred for GW under the tutelage of Beil. Not only academically, but she is a two-time NCAA All-American and has won back-to-back A-10 Championships. Last fall, Hogan became the first woman to run a sub-17 minute 5K time. Her time of 16:56 bested the previous record by 27 seconds. Numerous schools records have fallen since Beil has been at George Washington. As an assistant for the men, he helped guide the team to consecutive top five finishes at the A-10 Championships, the teams highest finishes since 1994. At East Carolina, Beil helped produce a qualifier for the NCAA National Championships and another earned All-East Region honors in track. He also implemented a strength and conditioning program at ECU, coordinated academic progress, planned weekly workouts and developed course layouts for several cross country meets. Beil lettered all four years at East Carolina and earned his bachelors degree in health and human performance in 2000. A captain and team most valuable player as a senior at East Carolina, Beil was part of three record-setting relay teams in his career. In 1999, he was presented with the ECU Mens Cross Country Prestigious Pirate Award which honors the recipient for outstanding achievement in the classroom and on the field of competition.
