Guy Begay

Head Coach

Begay is in his third season as head coach of the men's and women's golf programs.  He was named Fort Lewis College head men's and women's golf coach in August 2014.   A 2004 graduate of Fort Lewis College, Begay competed on the Skyhawks men's golf team from 2000-2004.  He has played a role in two of the Skyhawks five Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference Championships (2005, 2011). Begay received his Master of Arts degree in Secondary Education from New Mexico State University in 2006.   A PGA Class A Professional, he has held the role as the Skyhawks assistant coach for the past seven years.  As the assistant coach, Begay established a recruiting program, as well as fundraising and providing academic oversight to the men's golf student-athletes.   Since 2006, Begay has served as the Assistant Golf Professional at Hillcrest Golf Course in Durango where he has successfully helped organize and operate more than 30 tournaments per season while also managing golf operations and Hillcrest employees.   Guy and his wife, Shaula Palmer-Begay, reside in Shiprock, N.M.  A 2004 graduate of Fort Lewis College, Palmer-Begay was a student-athlete for the Skyhawks women's soccer team.  Guy and Shaula have a baby daughter, Hadley. Jim Foltz

Associate Head Coach

Foltz is in his third year with the Skyhawks golf program.  Foltz was hired as the assistant coach in the fall of 2014 and was promoted to associate head golf coach in the summer of 2015.   Foltz' primary responsibilities for both programs include strength and conditioning, recruiting, daily practice sessions and acting as head coach for one of the programs when both teams are competing on the same weekend.   Foltz spent the 2013 and 2014 seasons as an assistant coach for Kirk Rawles and the Durango High School boy's golf programs, guiding the Demons to back-to-back state tournament appearances.   In October 2009, Foltz retired as Command Chief Master Sergeant, closing out a 29-year career in the United States Air Force, reaching a rank only the top one percent of Airmen obtain.  Foltz oversaw more than 6,000 airmen and served for three one-star Generals.   A native of Vacaville, Calif., Foltz and his wife of 25 years, Meg, adopted four siblings in 2001 Kevin, Sebastian, Shaianne and Chantel.  Kevin, 20, is a Marine and is currently serving in Afghanistan.  Sebastian, 18, is a recent graduate of Durango High School and will be enlisting in the Army.  Shaianne and Chantel will be entering their senior and sophomore years, respectively, at DHS.
