Daniel Kuebler
Coach
Kuebler has served as head coach of the Franciscan University mens and womens cross-country teams since the programs began in 2002. An assistant professor of biology, Kuebler has been with the university since 2001. Kuebler has over 10 years of coaching experience, beginning in 1995 when he served as an assistant coach of cross-country and track at St. Marys High School in Berkeley, California before eventually taking over the head coaching position In 2000, he moved to Hyatsville, Maryland, where he coached track at DeMatha High School before accepting his current position at the university Over the past three years, Kuebler has seen the cross-country program expand dramatically, becoming increasingly more competitive. During his tenure, the program has added a new home course and had the honor of hosting the 2014 AMCC championships in which the womens team won and the men came in second. Kuebler received a bachelors degree in English in 1993 and a masters in biology in 1995, both from Catholic University of America. He went on to receive his doctorate in molecular and cell biology in 1999 from the University of California at Berkeley Kuebler competed in cross-country and track at CUA where he garnered NCAA All-American honors after finishing fifth in the 800-meter at the Division III indoor track and field championships in 1994. He was also a GTE Academic All-American in both cross-country and track and field during the 1993-1994 season. Kuebler and his wife, Nellie, reside in nearby Wintersville with their three children: Joseph, Patrick and Carolyn.
