Andrew Hendricks

Head Coach

Hendricks was appointed head coach of the Franklin College mens and womens swimming and diving teams prior to the 2008-2009 season. As the founding coach of the program, Hendricks brings a passionate approach to coaching and has fostered a family-like culture within the framework of the teams. He has made quick work of the men's and women's teams that have both raced into the national spotlight. By 2011, the program was one of the fastest growing collegiate swim programs in the nation, and by 2013, both the mens team and the womens team had achieved respective national rankings. "To most people in the sport, swimming is a culture, and we have quickly made it a culture on the Franklin campus. Our success starts with high expectations and the right mix of student-athletes," said Hendricks. "Part of my ambition is to challenge the swimmers in all parts of their lives. Be it team records, national qualifications, or Olympic aspirations, our coaching staff is dedicated to working with the athletes on an individual level to give them the absolute best experience possible." In addition to its national rankings, Franklin also served as the host school of the NCAA Division III Swimming & Diving National Championships in 2012 and 2014 and will once again serve as host in 2018. Coach Hendricks has an extensive competitive swimming background over a 36-year span. He has competed at every level of swimming posting AAAA times as an age-grouper in his early days and swimming at the national level with U.S. Masters and USA Triathlon in more recent years. He has coached swimmers of all ages including multiple Indiana state champions and has helped coach several individuals towards successful triathlon training. Hendricks himself trained under famed and Olympic swim coach James Doc Councilman and a number of other successful Indiana swim coaches and swim clubs. Hendricks is a member of USA Swimming, Indiana Swimming, U.S. Masters Swimming, USA Triathlon, the American Swim Coaches Association, and the College Swimming Coaches Association of America. Post-college, Hendricks worked in the Fortune 500, served at the director level of an $800 million organization here in Indiana, and owned a successful business until he joined Franklin College full-time. In addition to coaching at Franklin, Hendricks serves as an adjunct instructor of mathematics and works for the college's finance department. Franklin is a prestigious college, and we intend to offer a social, athletic, and academic value to our student-athletes that transcends the typical college program. Given my interaction on campus, I feel I am much more able to help swimmers in and out of the pool than I would be able to do as a coach alone. Further, with my experience in the business world, I feel I can provide positive and beneficial direction to the swimmers as they pursue their post-graduate and professional goals. In just seven seasons, Hendricks has coached 66 All-Conference honorees, 42 Conference champions, an 8-time NCAA National qualifier, and 2-time Academic All-American. He has won four conference titles (2016, 2015, 2014, 2012) on the womens side in those seven seasons and has won the NCAA Division III Liberal Arts Championship with the men the last three years (2016, 2015, and 2014). In 2014, he also guided Artur Schneider to multiple top-eight finishes and a national title and gold medal at the Swiss National Championships. Hendricks holds a bachelors degree in mathematics from Indiana University, graduating as an Academic All-American Scholar, and also earned his MBA from Indiana Wesleyan University with a 4.0 GPA. He resides locally with his wife and their three daughters. Mrs. Hendricks is an elementary school teacher in the Center Grove Community School Corporation and has served on the board of the local USA Swim Club, the Franklin Regional Swim Team. Each of their daughters also swims competitively on the local club teams. Swimming in the Hendricks household is definitely a family affair, and that family atmosphere is evident every day within the team! Accomplishments and Statistics Womens Team Mens Team

Dee Woods

Head Coach

Woods. Dee (Boice) Woods competed for Franklin Community High School and won two Indiana State Diving titles, setting a state record her senior year with a score of 467.55. Woods earned a diving scholarship to Miami (Ohio) University where she set 3 school records, won several MAC championships, and was an NCAA national qualifier. In 1994, Woods won the 1-meter national masters diving competition and has since been inducted in to the Indiana High School Swimming & Diving Hall of Fame. She has coached age group and high school diving for several years including two high school state champions, numerous finalists, and one Hall of Fame inductee. In addition to coaching, Woods also owns and operates a full-time yoga studio and teaches swim lessons throughout the year. Diving taught me the value of hard work, dedication, and goal setting, which is something that has been invaluable to me throughout life," says Woods. Woods guided Will Combs to the 2016 NCAA Division III Diving Regional, becoming the first diver in program history to reach the regional level.  They now focus their attention on bigger goals and a fast-growing diving team. She lives locally with her husband, Andrew Woods, and their two children, Anna and Nicholas.
