Kendall Mulligan
Head Coach
Mulligan was announced the head coach of Franklin & Marshall rowing in April 2015 after joining the staff as the interim head coach in 2014. The women's program reached key milestones in 2016 that included a two-week stint in the national rankings, remaining at No. 15 from April 20 to May 4, and the program's highest-ever finish at the 2016 Mid-Atlantic Rowing Conference (MARC) Championship with a second-place showing out of five teams after accumulating 35 points. The men's team also closed out its campaign in historic fashion when the duo of James Nelson '17 and Sean Hyland '18 advanced to the Varsity Pair Semifinals at the prestigious 2016 Dad Vail Regatta in Philadelphia on May 14. In her first year at the helm, Mulligan guided the womens team to a fourth-place finish at the 2015 Middle Atlantic Rowing Conference (MARC) Championships and a second-place showing for the men. At the prestigious Dad Vail Regatta, the mens 4+ boat advanced through to the quarterfinals, while the womens 4+ boat made an impressive run through the Grand Finals. A total of 13 rowers earned All-MARC honors under Mulligan, while 12 landed on the Academic All-MARC list. Mulligan also has coached just the second All-American in the history of the program when Teresa Chappell '18 was named to the Collegiate Rowing Coaches Association (CRCA) Pocock All-America Second Team in 2016. Mulligan competed in rowing all four years at Washington College where she was a captain and received two-time honors as a (MARC) Mid-Atlantic Rowing Conference All-Conference rower during her junior and senior seasons. As a sophomore, she was named a Student-Athlete Mentor to the rowing team. She led her team sitting stroke seat during her junior year and seven-seat during her senior year. Mulligan also received three Mid-Atlantic Rowing Conference All-Academic Conference Honors and three (CRCA) College Rowing Coaches Association National Scholar Athlete Honors. During her time at Washington, the team garnered two conference championships in 2009 and 2011 and one trip to the NCAA National Championship Regatta. She spent the last two years coaching the novice girls and assisting the varsity team at the Peddie School in Hightstown, N.J. During the 2013-14 year, Mulligan consulted for various independent high schools in the northeast, aiding them in their creation of brand new rowing programs. She also worked on all components of the program from budgets to water location, purchasing of equipment, and the hiring of coaches. Originally from Southbury, Conn., Mulligan graduated Magna Cum Laude and Phi Beta Kappa from Washington in 2012 with a Bachelor of Arts in Art History and French. In 2013 she completed a Post Graduate Certificate in Art Crime and Cultural Heritage Protection from the Association For Research Into Crimes Against Art.
