Laura McGlaughlin
Assistant Coach
McGlaughlin spent the 2014-15 season as an assistant coach and aquatics intern. She helped the Wildcat women to a first place finish and the men to a fourth place finish at the BIG EAST Championships in February. She also served as the recruiting coordinator for the mens program, while coordinating events for alumni and fans of Villanova swimming & diving. In her role as aquatics intern she managed the set-up and breakdown of meets and special events at Villanovas aquatic facility, while also supervising lifeguards. McGlaughlin was a four-year letterwinner and BIG EAST Championship competitor during her career at Villanova. She also competed at the United States Olympic Trials in 2012. McGlaughlin was selected as a team captain for her senior season, 2012-13, while also serving as a member of the Student Athlete Advisory Committee from 2011-13. A West Chester, Pa. native, McGlaughlin graduated cum laude with a bachelors degree in communications with a specialization in public relations. Her work in intercollegiate athletics goes beyond the pool, as she also gained experience in the Villanova Athletic Fund Development office as a student, and later working in the athletic directors office. widget powered by

Michael Tober
Coach
Tober comes to the Hilltop with 17 years of college coaching experience, having spent time in the same role at University of Maryland and George Washington. "Mike has a tremendous amount of experience as a club and college diving coach and I am extremely happy to have him on staff," Swimming and Diving Head Coach James Holder said. "He brings a wealth of knowledge and enthusiasm to our team and I feel he will be someone who can help take our team to the next level." At Georgetown, Tober will be responsible for the men's and women's diving teams that have featured several strong performers over the past few seasons. Prior to Georgetown, Tober started and ran a successful aquatic sports camp in the D.C. metropolitan area, where he coaches diving. As a diving coach, Tober spent 14 years at the University of Maryland and three years at George Washington University. He was named a USA National Dive Team coach from 1995-97 and was named a Pan American Games Coach in 1995. Tober, an Arlington, Va. native and Yorktown High School graduate, was a five-time All Atlantic Coast Conference diver at North Carolina State University where he also earned NCAA All America honors. He was a member of the USA National Dive Team, placing in the top 12 in all three diving events at the USA Senior National Championships, placing eighth on the three-meter springboard, 11th on the 10-meter platform and 12th on the one-meter springboard. He participated in the 1980 Olympic trials and was a gold medalist on the three-meter springboard and 10-meter platform at the 10th Maccabi Games in Israel.
