Jon Messner
Assistant Coach
Jon Messner Assistant Coach | 13th Season Jon Messner is entering his 13th season as the Assistant XC/Track & Field Coach at Georgian Court University in 2026-27 Messner has coached numerous school record-holders and conference champions, while reducing the amount of season-ending injuries. He led the Georgian Court men to their first-ever CACC Cross Country Championship in 2022 as the Lions scored 59 points, winning the meet by six points. Kyle Spector (4th), Xavier Seals (7th) and Alec Valle (10th) all were named All-CACC. At the 2023 CACC Outdoor Track and Field Conference Championship, Messner guided Kyle Spector to a fourth straight championship in the 3000m steeplechase. The first four-time winner in the event in conference history. The Lions followed that up with a second-place finish at the Cross Country conference meet in 2023 and had their best finish in program history at the NCAA Regional Championship. The 2022-23 season was the culmination of a successful stretch of distance running for the Lions who continued to run personal-bests in cross country and on the track. At the 2021 CACC outdoor meet, the GCU men’s distance team tallied an unprecedented 77 points. They then went on to finish second at the 2021 CACC Cross Country Championships and scored 66 points in 2022 at the CACC Outdoor Championships. Messner ran for Steve Dolan at The College of New Jersey. He previously coached at Lamar University (Texas) and Monmouth University (N.J.).
