Glenville State College Men's Baseball

Brian Thomas is in his first season as the Pitching Coach with the Glenville State Baseball program in 2026. Thomas brings 40+ years of baseball experience to Glenville. His previous stops have included time at the High School, Collegiate and Professional levels, with his most recent stop being at Columbia High School in Lake City, Florida. As a High School Head Coach, Brian's teams won 309 games during his 19 years in North Carolina and Florida. His collegiate stops have included Bluefield University in Bluefield, WV and Florida State College in Jacksonville, Florida. Professionally, Thomas spent four years in the Montreal Expos Organization, based in West Palm Beach, Florida. Brian is a 1979 Graduate of John T. Hoggard High School, in Wilmington, N.C. and attended East Tennessee State University, in Johnson City, Tenn., where as a member of the baseball team, they competed in 2 NCAA Regional Tournaments. Brian and his wife Kelly, reside in Weston, W.Va., and are the parents of Hunter Thomas ('26), a current member of the Glenville State Baseball program.  

Zach Bacon enters his second season as an Assistant Coach for the Glenville State Baseball program in 2026. It marks his fourth year on the staff, spending his first two as a Graduate Assistant.  In his first season as a full-time assistant in 2025, the Pioneers had their second-consecutive winning season, going (27-21, 16-14 MEC) and just missing the MEC Tournament by one game. Six were named All-Conference, with Zac Bayor landing on the All-MEC First Team and five others garnering All-MEC Second Team honors. Bayor also a NCBWA All-Region Second Team honoree.  In 2024, Bacon helped coach the Pioneers to a (28-21) overall record and program-best (21-9) conference finish, securing a spot in the MEC Tournament for the second time in three years with a 2nd place finish in the MEC South Division. In addition, five earned All-Conference honors with Fabian Escalante, Austin Corn and Grant Landis all landing on the All-MEC First Team. Escalante was also named to the NCBWA All-Region First Team. Bacon's first season on the staff was in 2023, when the Pioneers finished (22-26, 15-15 MEC) and had three earn All-Conference status. Fabian Escalante garnered All-MEC First Team honors while Chase Swain was All-MEC Second Team and Zach Morris earned All-MEC Honorable Mention.  Bacon graduated from Glenville State University in 2019 with his Bachelor's degree in Athletic Coaching and Conditioning. During his time at Glenville State he was a part of the Baseball team we he got MEC second team all conference in 2017. Bacon went on to pursue his MBA in Project Management at Salem University were he graduated in 2024. Bacon is from Pinnellas Park, Fla. were he attended Keswick Christian High School. While attending Keswick Christian, Bacon achieved AA Player of the Year.

Luke Petrice enters his second season as a Graduate Assistant for the Glenville State Sports Information Department and Baseball program in 2025-26. In the Sports Information Department, Petrice serves as the main contact for both Men's & Women's Golf, Volleyball and Women's Basketball. In Petrice's first season back in Glenville with the Pioneer Baseball team, the Pioneers had their second-consecutive winning season, going (27-21, 16-14 MEC) and just missing the MEC Tournament by one game. Six were named All-Conference, with Zac Bayor landing on the All-MEC First Team and five others garnering All-MEC Second Team honors. Bayor also a NCBWA All-Region Second Team honoree.  Petrice graduated from Glenville State University in 2022 with his Bachelor's in Behavioral Science. Before becoming a graduate assistant, Petrice was the Assistant Baseball Coach at Davis and Elkins. Petrice is from Elkins, W.Va. where he attended Elkins High School. He graduated from Elkins in 2017.

Colin Bryant enters his second season as a Graduate Assistant for the Glenville State Baseball program in 2026.  In his first season on the Pioneer coaching staff, Bryant helped coach the Pioneers to a (27-21, 16-14 MEC) record. Two pitchers earned All-MEC Second Team honors in Cole Grady and Grant Landis, with both posting ERAs under 3.40. Under Bryant's tutelage, the Pioneer pitching staff had five pitchers with a sub-4.00 ERA that pitched 10 or more innings. Bryant graduated from West Virginia State University in 2024 with a Bachelor's degree and is from Washington, W.Va were he graduated from Parkersburg South High School.
