Henderson is a three-time Olympian and two-time Olympic Gold Medalist. She earned her gold medals as part of the womens 4x400m relay teams in 2004 and 2008. At age 17, Henderson set a high school national record of 50.74 in the 400 meters. Also at this age, she became the first high school athlete to make the Olympic track and field team since 1976. Hendersons section, state, and national scholastic records in the U.S. in the 400 meters still stand today. Monique went on to have a successful career at UCLA by winning 9 conference titles and garnering an NCAA championship in the 400 meters. She also set the collegiate national record. Before coming to Golden West, Henderson spent five seasons as an assistant coach at San Diego Mesa College. Henderson's athletes contributed greatly to the men's 5 consecutive PCAC conference team titles, 2011-2015, and women's 3 consecutive PCAC conference titles, 2012-2014. During her time at Mesa, she coached the state leader in the mens 400 as well as conference and regional winners for both the mens and womens programs.
