Associate Head Coach
Ward enters his 16th season as the head coach of the Fighting Scots field hockey team in the fall of 2015 Ward also served as the head coach of the womens lacrosse program, a post he held from 2002-2006 and 2011-2014. In his tenure with the field hockey program, the team has been a formidable force both in conference and regional play, compiling a 173-121 record and winning the Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) Championship in 2001 and 2013, giving them their first ever appearance in the NCAA Division III Regional Championship Tournament. In 2014, Gordon finished as the runner-ups in the ECAC New England Championships. Since coming on board with the women's lacrosse program in 2002, Ward has led the Scots to four TCCC Championship appearances for three conference titles (2002, 2003, 2005), the latter two of which earned the Scots bids into the NCAA Division III tournament. Coach Ward has coached four players to CCC Player of the Year distinctions and several others to All-Conference honors. Ward earned a B.A. in Accounting (1998) and a B.A. in Youth Ministries (2000) from Gordon College. In addition to field hockey and women's lacrosse, he is the assistant athletic director for operations. Cory and his wife, Melanie, reside in Wenham, Mass. with their four children, Joshua, Emily, Nathanael and Abigail. Wendy Waldron
Assistant Coach
Waldron joined the Gordon Field Hockey staff as an assistant to Head Coach Cory Ward in the summer of 2013 . A 2010 graduate of the College, Waldron was a four-year member of the field hockey team, starting all but three games in her career in the blue and white. Helping anchor the Scots' defense, she recorded two goals and two assists total and captained the team her senior year. For her efforts she was named to the Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) Honorable Mention team in 2007 and First Team in 2009. Waldron, who previously served as the freshmen team coach at Danvers High School, works primarily with the Scots' defense. She and her husband Dan currently reside in Stoneham, Mass.

Courtney Scott
Assistant Coach
Scott became the newest addition to the Gordon field hockey coaching staff after finishing her career in the fall of 2014. A transfer student from Ursinus College, Pa., Scott played two years as a center forward for the Fighting Scots. In just two season in Wenham, she broke three school records: goals per season, single season hat tricks and career hat tricks. Scott was among the top scorers in the nation her junior year, and was recognized as a Third Team All-American, ECAC DIII New England All-Star, the CCC Offensive Player of the Year and Gordon Colleges Student Athlete of the Year. Despite an injury at the beginning of her senior year, Scott still received CCC First Team and NFHCA All-New England East Second Team nods. Scott was a four-time NFHCA Academic All-American and received the Scholar of Distinction Honor during both her seasons at Gordon, finishing her senior year as the CCCs Senior Scholar Athlete. Scott now lives in Beverly, Mass., and splits her time at field hockey with her work at Trevi Communications in Middleton.

Chyanne Smith
Assistant Coach
Smith assumed an assistant coaching role for the Fighting Scots in 2009. As a four-year starter in the cage for the Scots, Smith garnered numerous conference, regional, and national accolades for her play on the field hockey and lacrosse fields and her outstanding work in the classroom. For field hockey, she was selected to The Commonwealth Coast Conference (TCCC) First Team in 2007, TCCC Honorable Mention in 2008, National Field Hockey Coaches Association (NFHCA) All-New England East Second Team in 2007, and was a member of the NFHCA Academic All-American team and TCCC All-Academic team each of her four years. As a member of the Scots' lacrosse team, Smith was a TCCC First Team selection and IWLCA Pilgrim Region Second Team honoree in 2007 and 2008, adding an ECAC Division III All-New England Second Team nod in 2008 and TCCC Honorable Mention nods in 2006 and 2009. Smith lends that playing experience to the Scots now as a goalie and defensive coach, and works as fifth grade teacher at Covenant Christian Academy while not on the field.

Mindy Fowler
Assistant Coach
Fowler joined the Gordon Athletic staff as a graduate assistant in the summer of 2013 after a successful career in both the Fighting Scots' field hockey and women's lacrosse programs. Under Head Coach Cory Ward's guidance on the field hockey squad, Fowler started every game of her four-year career, tallying seven goals and nine assists out of the Scots' defensive midfield. Named team captain her senior year, she put a stamp on her final season by earning a Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) Second Team nod. Having never played lacrosse before college, Fowler was a three-year member of the Scots' program and worked her way into a starting spot by her junior year, helping lead Gordon to a CCC Championship appearance in 2012. A native of Winslow, Maine, Mindy currently resides in Beverly, Mass.
