Goshen College Women's Soccer

Justin Crew was named the tenth head coach in Goshen College women's soccer history on April 16, 2018. Crew joined the Maple Leaf coaching staff from Ancilla College in Donaldson, Indiana, where he has led the women's soccer team since its inception in 2015. The Chargers qualified for their first NJCAA regional tournament in 2017, one year after leading the department in team grade-point average. From 2007 to 2011, Crew served as head men's soccer coach at his alma mater, Olivet Nazarene University in Bourbonnais, Illinois. The Tigers averaged more than 11 wins a year with a .620 winning percentage during that five-year tenure, winning a regional and a conference tournament to qualify for nationals in both the NAIA and National Christian College Athletic Association. He was named NCCAA regional coach of the year in 2009. A 2001 Olivet Nazarene graduate, Crew has also worked as an assistant coach at the University of South Carolina Upstate, working primarily with the goalkeepers at the NCAA Division I institution. He has been both a head coach and an assistant with FC Indiana of the United Women's Soccer League and serves as a staff coach with Junior Irish FC in South Bend. He holds a national "B" coaching license from the United States Soccer Federation. Crew is a veteran of the summer camp circuit as well, working with institutions such as Michigan State University and the University of North Carolina, in addition to a stint as an age group head coach in the Illinois Olympic Development Program. Crew and his wife, Jill, live in Mishawaka with their son Ethan and daughter Karlee.

Giovanni Lopez started working as a goalkeeper coach with the GC men’s and women’s soccer teams in 2017. He came to Goshen after more than 20 years of coaching on the local high school scene at NorthWood, Elkhart Memorial and Concord High Schools, where he was part of teams that won three sectional championships. He has also been active on the club scene with Elkhart Flames and Elkhart County United, where his resume includes two Indiana State Cup titles, a runner-up finish, and the 2014 state coach of the year award. Lopez had training and tryouts with two A division teams in Guatemala and played one year in the C division after his juvenile career. He has also played 20 years in U.S. adult leagues as a goalkeeper and midfielder, making the Indiana select team in 1994. Lopez, who is a member of the United States Soccer Federation referee program, also works as an electrician and as a member of the Indiana Real Estate Commission.
