Dave Fritz

Head Coach

Fritz guided Grove City to an 11-2 overall record and a third straight conference title. Eight Wolverine swimmers qualified for the NCAA Championships. Fourteen mens swimmers have earned NCAA All-America honors during his tenure as head coach. In 2006, Courage became Grove Citys first mens swimmer to earn a national title. Fritz has guided Grove City to a 104-52 overall dual-meet record, including a College-record 15 victories during the 2006-07 season. That year, Grove City posted victories over eventual NCAA Division III champion Kenyon, perennial power Case Western Reserve, NCAA Division I institution Butler and archrival Westminster. In his second season as head coach, 2003-04, Fritz led Grove City to the PAC championship, along with a 6-3 dual-meet record. Fritz is a member of the American Swim Coaches Association (ASCA) and has served as a collegiate and scholastic water polo official. He has been awarded the ASCAs Certificate of Excellence seven times. He has also earned Level Four certification from the ASCA. He is also entering his sixth season as Grove Citys head womens swimming and diving coach. He has guided the womens team to five consecutive conference titles. Last season, four Wolverine swimmers achieved All-America status as Grove City finished 27th at the NCAA Division III National Championships in Indianapolis. In 2013, Grove Citys womens team posted its best-ever finish at the NCAA Division III Championships by placing ninth nationally. Grove City placed 10th in the team standings in 2012 after taking 11th nationally in each of the previous two seasons. He owns a 51-29 dual-meet record as womens head coach. His combined record is 155-81 (.657). Fritz spent eight seasons as head coach of Grove Citys womens water polo squad. In the spring of 2002, Fritz directed the womens team to a 7-11 mark after taking over on an interim basis. In 2007, Fritz led the womens water polo team to a program-record 18 victories and a fifth-place finish at the Collegiate III National Championships. In 2008, Fritz guided Grove City to a fifth-place finish at the Collegiate III Championships in New London, Conn., as the Wolverines finished 13-12 overall. Six Grove City water polo players earned All-America honors under his guidance. He owns masters degrees from both Duquesne University and Slippery Rock University. Fritz lives in Slippery Rock with his wife Tammy, daughters Emily and Mary, and sons Hayden and Harrison.
