Gibson led the Wolverines back to the top of the Presidents' Athletic Conference as both teams won conference crowns in the same season for the first time since 2005. It was the first conference title for the men since 2009 while the women one the first title since that 2005 campaign. Then-sophomore Emily Rabenold was named the PAC Women's Track and Field Overall MVP while then-freshman Katelyn Hess was selected as the PAC Women's Field MVP. Both Rabenold (steeplechase) and classmate Eliza Lowe (100 hurdles) qualified for the NCAA Division III Championships. In 2012, Grove City's men took third in the conference and the women posted a strong fourth-place finish in the tightly-packed team standings. The men's program captured the 2009 PAC crown and earned second place in 2010. Four distance runners set new school records under Gibson's tutelage. In 2009, Derek Kruse set a new standard in the 1,500 and Dan Spaulding broke the school mark in the 10,000. Kruse also earned CoSIDA Academic All-America honors following the 2010 season. On the women's side, Kristen Carter qualified for the NCAA Division III Championships in the 10,000-meter run in 2009. The following year, Kate McRoberts broke a 10-year old school record in the 3,000-meter run and distance standout Emily Pierce captured the conference's Most Valuable Performer award. In 2011, Wolverine athletes continued to excel within the conference, earning six PAC titles, led by league MVP Sara Fisher.
