Rob Haberbusch

Head Coach

Haberbusch is in his fifth season as the sixth head men's hockey coach at Hamilton College in the program's 97-year history. Haberbusch guided the Continentals to the 2015 NESCAC Championship quarterfinals and one of his players received NESCAC all-conference honors last season. Eleven men's hockey student-athletes made the 2014-15 NESCAC winter all-academic team and one was valedictorian of his senior class. Haberbusch has directed his team to a spot in the NESCAC championship quarterfinals three times. His players have received four all-conference and 23 NESCAC winter all-academic team honors. One player was selected to the 2012-13 USCHO Division III All-Rookie Team. Haberbusch guided the Continentals to the 2011 Skidmore College Invitational team title. Haberbusch was an assistant at the U.S. Military Academy (Army) from 2003 to 2011 and was named the associate head coach for the Division I program in 2008. He helped guide Army to 83 wins in eight seasons in Atlantic Hockey Association (AHA) play. In 2007-08 Army won 19 games, including a record of 17-8-3 in the AHA. The 17 Atlantic Hockey victories was the program record in conference play. The team earned the Atlantic Hockey regular season title -- their first championship of any kind in men's hockey -- and reached the semifinals of the conference championship. The team went 17-12-5 overall and 15-8-5 in the conference in 2006-07. Army advanced to the AHA championship game, where they fell to the Air Force Academy. While at Army, Haberbusch worked under Rob Riley and Brian Riley. Rob went on to become head coach of the Columbus Blue Jackets' AHL affiliate Springfield Falcons, and Brian was the AHA coach of the year in 2006, 2007 and 2008. Haberbusch was part of the Army Athletic Association's coaching staff of the year in 2008 and Army claimed the AHA team sportsmanship award in 2009 and 2010. Haberbusch played a major role in the recruitment of one NHL free agent signee, one All-American, one AHA player of the year, one AHA goalie of the year, one AHA defenseman of the year, 14 all-conference selections and three all-rookie team members at Army. The 2007, 2010 and 2011 AHA Scholar-Athletes of the Year were all recruited by Haberbusch. Haberbusch was an assistant coach at Iona College for one season prior to his career at Army. He served as an assistant at the University of Findlay from 1997 to 2002. Haberbusch played college hockey at Fairfield University from 1989 to 1993 and was a four-year letter winner at center and left wing. Haberbusch grew up in Montclair, N.J., and graduated with a degree in political science. He earned his master's degree in education from Findlay. Haberbusch and his wife Molly have a daughter, Shelby.
