Scott Barnard
Head Coach
Barnard is in his 10th year as the head men's lacrosse coach at Hamilton College. Barnard has a 66-63 record at Hamilton and he has guided the Continentals to the postseason in three of the last four years. In 2015 Barnard led the Hamilton men to the quarterfinals of the NESCAC Championship. He coached an All-American, a NESCAC all-conference team honoree, an Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) regional all-star and a U.S. Intercollegiate Lacrosse Association (USILA) Scholar All-American. Another player captured the Most Outstanding Player award at the Division III North-South Senior All-Star Game. Twelve student-athletes made the NESCAC Spring All-Academic Team. Barnard has mentored a pair of All-Americans in his Hamilton coaching career, including a player that made the first team in 2012. His athletes have received 28 all-conference honors and a NESCAC Player of the Year award. Five of his players have participated in the North-South Senior All-Star Game and four have made the Scholar All-America Team. In 2013 Barnard helped lead Hamilton to the NESCAC quarterfinals for the second year in a row. The Continentals ended up 9-6 overall and tied for fifth place in the conference standings with a record of 5-5. The Continentals won eight of their last nine games in 2012 en route to a 9-6 record, including 5-5 in the conference, and defeated two ranked teams. In 2011 Barnard guided Hamilton to an 11-3 record, including 7-1 at home. The 11 wins were the most for the Continentals since 2006. Barnard's team performs several acts of community service every year. Corbin Brown '11 formed Hamilton Against Hunger, which donates food not used by campus dining halls to a shelter in Utica. Barnard was the head coach at Herkimer County Community College (HCCC) from 2004 to 2006. He won national championships as a head coach, assistant coach and player at the National Junior College Association of America Division III school located in nearby Herkimer. Barnard guided HCCC to a national title in 2005 and the national championship game in 2004. His record was a sparkling 46-7 (.868 win pct.) as a head coach. He was an assistant at the school from 1996 to 2003 and helped HCCC win a Division III crown in 2003. Barnard coached at SUNY Cortland for two years prior to returning to Herkimer in August 1996. Barnard was a captain on the 1992 Herkimer squad that went undefeated and won a national championship. He was a two-time NJCAA academic All-American at HCCC in 1991 and 1992. Barnard went on to star at the University of Delaware, where he made the North Atlantic Lacrosse Conference all-conference first team in 1993 and 1994 and was a team captain as a senior. Barnard was inducted into the Jamesville-DeWitt High School Athletic Hall of Fame with the Class of 2008-09. Jamesville-DeWitt posted a record of 32-9 with one sectional and two league titles during his two seasons as team captain. Barnard has a bachelor's degree in physical education and he earned his master's in education from Cortland. He resides in Chittenango with his wife Courtney and their four children: Collin, Brooke, Caleb and Brendon.

Matt Johansmeyer
Assistant Coach
Johansmeyer is in his second year as an assistant on the Hamilton College men's lacrosse coaching staff. In 2015 he helped lead the Continentals to the quarterfinals of the NESCAC Championship. Johansmeyer was an assistant coach at Bowdoin College in 2013 and 2014. He helped guide the Polar Bears to 17 wins and they were ranked in the Division III Top 20 coaches poll both seasons. He coached an honorable mention All-American in 2014. Johansmeyer was an assistant at Clark University in 2011 and 2012. He was part of the coaching staff that shared NEWMAC Coaching Staff of the Year honors his first year. Johansmeyer was a four-year varsity letter winner at Plymouth State University and served as a men's lacrosse team representative on the Student-Athlete Advisory Committee from 2006 to 2010. He was a Panther Award recipient and a team captain his senior year. Johansmeyer helped Plymouth State to three Eastern College Athletic Conference championship appearances, including a 2007 title. The team tied a program record with 12 wins the following year. He finished his 67-game career with 29 goals, 25 assists and 72 ground balls. The Shelburne Falls, Mass., native earned his degree and teacher certification from Plymouth State.

John Giordano
Assistant Coach
Giordano is in his second year as an assistant on the Hamilton College men's lacrosse coaching staff. Giordano was a volunteer assistant coach at Utica College in 2014. Giordano coaches with United Lacrosse in Syracuse. He has been coaching at the modified and junior varsity level at New Hartford High School since 2007 and has worked with the New Hartford Summer Lacrosse Clinic since 2006. Giordano played midfield and attack at Utica from 2007 to 2010. He received the Empire 8 Conference Sportsman of the Year Award and the Utica College Lacrosse Citizen's Award in 2010. He graduated cum laude with degrees in mathematics and psychology and attended high school in New Hartford.
