He was named the new head coach at H-SC on February 21, 2017. DiNuzzo previously served as the head coach of the University of Maine at Farmington from 2013-16. Tommy is currently 81-52-22 at the College, including 45-25-13 in the Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC), and ranks second in winning percentage (.594) and third in wins among the 10 head coaches in the program’s history. DiNuzzo also serves as a strength and conditioning coach for the athletic department. The Tigers completed their campaign with a final overall record of 14-4-2, including 6-1-2 in the ODAC, while advancing to the ODAC Tournament Semifinals. It was the Garnet & Grey’s finest season in 16 years (2009, 16-4), and equaled the third-most season wins in the 57-year history of the program. The 14 wins are the most during DiNuzzo's nine-year tenure, and the third 10-win season since his arrival in 2017. H-SC was 8-1-1 in its first 10 games, while ranked as high as No. 21 in the United Soccer Coaches (USC) Top 25, the first time the program had been ranked since 1997. A program-record eight Tigers earned All-ODAC honors, including one on the First Team in Walker Stebbings, four on the Second Team in Mauricio Jimenez, Zakky Johnston, Victor Ovalle-Mares and Tyler Petz, and three on the Third Team in Mason Dudley, Stig Larson and Charlie Letson. Petz and Stebbings were each USC Second Team All-Region VI selections, while Jimenez and Ovalle-Mares were each Fourth Team All-Region honorees. H-SC completed its 2024 season with a 9-6-3 overall record and a 6-2-2 record in the ODAC. The Tigers were the eighth seed in the ODAC Tournament, winning their quarterfinal past fifth seed Roanoke (2-1), before falling at top-seeded Lynchburg. H-SC placed four student-athletes on the All-ODAC Team. The Tigers completed their 2023 season with a 6-6-6 overall record and a 3-3-4 record in the ODAC. They went undefeated to start the season with a 3-0-2 start to the season. H-SC was the seventh seed in the ODAC Tournament, falling in the quarterfinals at second-seeded Lynchburg. H-SC placed three student-athletes on the All-ODAC Team. H-SC completed its 2022 season with a 9-7-3 overall record and a 3-5-2 record in the ODAC. The Tigers enjoyed a great start to the season, going 5-0-1 in their first six games. H-SC got to its third ODAC Tournament semifinal in four seasons with a thrilling 1-0 victory at top-seeded Lynchburg in the quarterfinals, before falling to fourth-seeded Roanoke in the semifinals. H-SC placed three student athletes on the All-ODAC Team, and two on the CSC Academic All-District Team. H-SC completed an incredible season in 2019 with a school-record 14-match unbeaten streak (12-0-2), finishing the regular season as the top team in the ODAC to earn the top seed in the ODAC Tournament. The Tigers finished 13-5-2 overall, including 7-0-1 in the ODAC. Following a 1-5 start, H-SC put together a seven-game winning streak before a double-overtime tie against the University of Lynchburg (3-3). The Tigers followed with a five-match winning streak before once-again tying versus Lynchburg (2-2), this time in the ODAC Tournament semifinals, as the Hornets advanced on penalty-kicks. The 2020 season was moved to the spring of 2021 due to the COVID-19 pandemic, but H-SC picked up where it left off  in 2019, finishing 8-1-1 overall, including a perfect 8-0 in the ODAC, to earn the top seed in the ODAC Tournament for the second consecutive season and for only the second time in program history, as well. After advancing past Ferrum (0-0) on penalty-kicks in the quarterfinals, the Tigers fell in the semifinals to Lynchburg, 2-1, in overtime, snapping the program’s ODAC-record 23-game unbeaten streak. In his first season on the sidelines at H-SC in 2017, the Tigers improved by four wins overall and within conference play with a record of 10-7-1 overall and 5-4-0 in the ODAC. H-SC returned to the ODAC Tournament after a two-year hiatus, earning the fifth seed a year after finishing in 11th place. The Tigers recorded their first victory over Virginia Wesleyan University since 2006. The 10 wins marked just the second double-digit win season since 2010. H-SC finished 6-8-2 overall during both 2018 and 2021, while 4-5-1 and 3-5-1, respectively, in the ODAC during those respective campaigns. Coach DiNuzzo came to H-SC after spending the previous four seasons as the head coach at Maine-Farmington. DiNuzzo took over a UMF program that won just two games the season before his arrival, and he was able to triple that win total in his third year, while also reaching the conference semifinals for the first time since 2011. Additionally, he had the most all-conference honorees since 2011. Prior to his time at Maine-Farmington, DiNuzzo was an assistant coach at ODAC member Lynchburg (2011-13) and at his alma mater, the University of Mary Washington (2009-11), where he graduated in 2009 with a Bachelor of Arts degree in history. DiNuzzo was a four-year starter and two-year captain for the Eagles. Tommy and his wife, Claire, were married on March 21, 2026 and reside in Richmond. He earned his Master of Educational Leadership degree from Lynchburg in 2016. Yugo Suzuki

Associate Head Coach

Yugo Suzuki is in his fourth year at Hampden-Sydney College during 2026-27, and was promoted to Associate Head Soccer Coach in the spring of 2026. Suzuki had served as an assistant soccer coach for three seasons (2023-25). He had previously served as a student assistant at Virginia Commonwealth University since January 2023. At VCU, Yugo worked with staff to organize, plan and prepare practice sessions, and assisted with film after games and practices. He also played a role in getting the equipment ready for practices and games. While at VCU, Suzuki also was a coach at Own Touch in Richmond, a position he still currently holds. He helps prepare and manage summer camps, as well as middle and high school sessions. In addition, Yugo is responsible for training and shadowing new staff. A native of Midlothian, Virginia, Yugo is a 2023 graduate of VCU, where he graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree in business supply chain management & analytics. While at VCU he was a four-year member of the soccer team, playing eight career games for the Rams, making two starts.

Andrew Longhurst

Assistant Coach

Andrew Longhurst is in his fourth year as an assistant soccer coach at Hampden-Sydney College during 2026-27. He had previously served as a men’s soccer assistant Coach at Earlham (IN) College since 2022.   During his lone season with the Quakers, he helped the team win three more games than the previous season. He played a part in planning team practices, individual instruction, game plans, and game management. In addition, to his on-the-field duties, Andrew developed academic plans and strategies for his student-athletes and scouted opponents to prepare scouting reports. Prior to Earlham, Longhurst spent two years at his alma mater, the University of Maine at Farmington. He went straight from the field into the coaching ranks, assisting with practices, games, scouting, and recruiting. He coached both the North Atlantic Conference (NAC) Rookie of the Year and a First Team All-Conference goalie in 2021 while helping the team reach its first NAC championship game since 2003. A native of Middletown, Delaware, Andrew is a 2020 graduate of the University of Maine at Farmington, where he earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in business economics. He was a four-year member of the men’s soccer team, earning Second Team All-Conference honors in 2017 and 2018, and Defensive Player of the Year to go along with First Team All-Conference honors in 2019.
