Tamisha Augustin

Head Coach

The Hampton University women's basketball team launched a new era with the hiring Hampton native and University of Florida associate head coach Tamisha Augustin. Her appointment heralds a momentous occasion for the university and the local community. With a rich background in basketball, coaching, and player development, she brings a wealth of experience and an unwavering commitment to nurturing talent on and off the court. The first season under Augustin provided a glimpse of the future as the Pirates knocked off another Power Four school en route to a solid opening campaign. On December 1, 2024, Hampton took on SEC member Georgia and came out with a 76-74 overtime win on a Tyra Kennedy floater at the horn. Hampton also had first-time wins over CAA opponents Stony Brook, Towson and Northeastern. Augustin, the 10th head women's basketball coach in Hampton history, brings a distinguished resume to the position. Augustin's basketball journey began at Bethel High. She then excelled at Alabama A&M, where she was a two-time All-SWAC performer and served as a four-year team captain. After her playing days, she ventured into coaching, accumulating experience at various levels of basketball. Augustin's coaching career spans nearly two decades and includes roles at multiple universities and the NBA G League. She has served as an assistant coach and a recruiting coordinator at prestigious programs such as Arizona, Mississippi State, Florida, Minnesota, and Virginia Commonwealth University, among others. Augustin returns to her hometown after working under Coach Kelly Finley at Florida. In her first season as an assistant coach with the Gators, Florida advanced to the WNIT quarterfinals in 2023. In 2024, she was promoted to associate head coach and helped lead the Gators to the SEC Championship quarterfinals with wins over Missouri and Vanderbilt before losing to Mississippi. The team earned an invitation to the WBIT, falling to St. John's. Throughout her coaching tenure, Augustin has been associated with success on the court. She has been part of teams that have reached the NCAA tournament, including a memorable run with Arizona that saw the Wildcats advance to the championship game in 2021. Her coaching philosophy has yielded impressive results, with athletes under her tutelage garnering conference honors and national recognition. During her time in the NBA G-League, Augustin was part of a coaching staff that oversaw nine call-ups, demonstrating her ability to develop players and prepare them for the next level. At Florida, Augustin played a pivotal role in recruiting top-tier talent, aiding in the signing of three McDonald's All-Americans and two Jordan Brand Classic participants. Her ability to attract standout players underscored her influence within the basketball community and contributed to the program's success. Focusing on player development, she was instrumental in coaching Cate Reese, a two-time All-Pac-12 honoree and Naismith Trophy candidate at Arizona. She helped Arizona's Dominique McBryde become the first player in school history to shoot 50 percent from the field and 40 percent from three. She led the team in both categories. At Cincinnati, she helped Iimar'i Thomas earn AAC Freshman of the Year honors. Augustin is a proven elite recruiter who helped sign three Top 100 players and two top transfers during her two years in Arizona while laying the foundation for the sixth-best recruiting class in the nation. She played a crucial role in the signing of two-time Gatorade National Player of the Year Lauren Ware, as well as transfers Bendu Yeaney and 2020 ACC Sixth Player of the Year Trinity Baptiste. At Minnesota, Augustin helped groom All-Big Ten second-team honoree Carlie Wagner and All-Big Ten honorable mention selection Kenisha Bell. At Central Florida from 2014-16, Augustin helped bring in a class that included two players who earned AAC honors. Additionally, Augustin was instrumental in the signing of the Knights' 2016 top-ranked recruiting class, according to Dan Olson's Collegiate Girls Basketball Report. While at Marshall in 2012-13, she signed a top-100 recruit for the Thundering Herd. While at South Carolina State from 2010-12, she helped tutor a pair of all-conference selections, Whitney Wiley (2011 second-team All-MEAC) and Cabriel Duren (2012 MEAC All-Rookie) and signed a JUCO All-American in Brittany Cochran. Augustin earned a bachelor's degree in biology in 2005 and a master's in microbiology in 2007. She also earned a master's degree in education from Regent in 2010. The hiring reunites Head Coach Tamisha Augustin with her former coach at Alabama A&M. Holt served as an assistant coach for the Lady Bulldogs during Augustin’s playing career at Alabama A&M. He was named as Associate Head Coach prior to the 2024-25 season opener. Holt comes to Hampton after two seasons at UMBC. While with the Retrievers, he was involved in all facets of coaching including scouting, game preparations and recruiting. He spent a year as the head coach at Harris-Stowe in St. Louis, Mo., after working as an assistant coach at Alabama State for five seasons. In his first season at Hampton, the Pirates provided a glimpse of the future as the Pirates knocked off another Power Four school en route to a solid opening campaign. On December 1, 2024, Hampton took on SEC member Georgia and came out with a 76-74 overtime win on a Tyra Kennedy floater at the horn. Hampton had first-time wins over CAA opponents Stony Brook, Towson and Northeastern. At Alabama State, he helped lead the Hornets to a runner-up finish at the 2021 SWAC Tournament. He was instrumental in recruiting five first-team and three second-team All-SWAC honorees and assisted with the development of Brittany Wright, the 2017 SWAC Player of the Year. Holt spent 23 seasons at Alabama A&M working with both the men’s and women’s teams. He began his coaching career in 1993 as a student assistant under head coach Vann Pettaway before being promoted to a full-time assistant. He helped coach the team to three regional championships and three consecutive NCAA Elite Eight appearances (1993-96). While at Alabama A&M, Holt recruited two SWAC Player of the Year honorees: Katrich Williams (2010) and Whiquitta Tobar (2012), as well as six first-team and four second-team All-SWAC honorees. After 11 years on the women’s coaching staff, he moved back to the men’s side as an assistant until 2016. Holt was a standout player for legendary Coach Jerry Dugan at Lee High in Huntsville, Ala. He played two seasons at Snead State Community College in Boaz, Ala. Under Gid Riddle and Craig Roden. He earned a bachelor’s degree in telecommunications and general business from Alabama A&M in 1996 while pursuing his coaching career. He earned a master’s degree in management from Argosy in 2015. Holt, and his wife, Tabatha, have two children: Diamond Samoan and Dexter Jr. (DJ).

High, 2017-20                                   Head Coach, Arizona Compass Prep School, 2020-23                                    Associate Coach-Player Relations, Kentucky, 2023-24                                             Assistant Coach, Hampton, 2024-present   Jaamal Rhodes joined Head Coach Tamisha Augustin’s staff in April 2024 after a season as associate coach of player development at Kentucky under Coach Kyra Elzy.   In his first season at Hampton, the Pirates provided a glimpse of the future as the Pirates knocked off another Power Four school en route to a solid opening campaign. On December 1, 2024, Hampton took on SEC member Georgia and came out with a 76-74 overtime win on a Tyra Kennedy floater at the horn. Hampton had first-time wins over CAA opponents Stony Brook, Towson and Northeastern. Prior to his time at Kentucky, Rhodes spent four years at Arizona under head coach Niya Butts as the team’s video coordinator from 2010-14. A veteran of the high school and club coaching ranks, Rhodes spent nearly 20 years developing and coaching players at the highest level in Arizona. He served as the national girl’s head coach of the Arizona Compass Prep School.  After starting the program in August 2020, the team posted a three-year record of 66-29 against a nationwide schedule. In his three seasons, 17 of 20 seniors in the program went on to play collegiate basketball including nine Division I Players.   Rhodes continued to build winning programs in the state of Arizona. Taking a program at Sabino High in Tucson, Ariz. that had posted an 18-28 record in the two seasons prior to his arrival, Rhodes immediately turned the program around. The Sabercats were 43-15 in his first two seasons as head coach. The 2019-20 team won the Class 3A State Championship and he coached three future Division I players and a Top 50 ESPN HoopGurlz player.    At the same time, Rhodes served as a skills development trainer at Grind2Go Skill Development where he was responsible for skills development of male and female youth, collegiate and professional players. Rhodes also worked as the coach/director of the Arizona Supreme Hoops where he developed numerous Division I women’s basketball players.   Rhodes began his coaching career in 2006 at Warren County, Ga. where he taught social studies and math while coaching basketball at various levels. In addition, Rhodes aided in the development of a top 25 point guard, Candice Warthen.   Rhodes played at Augusta State where he was a member of the 2001 Peach Belt Conference championship squad. He earned a bachelor’s degree in marketing from Augusta State in 2005 after attending Coastal Georgia Community College.   Rhodes and his wife, Erica, have three daughters: Kam’Ren, JaiDen, and Kynedy.

Brooke Moore

EDUCATION:             B.S., Psychology, Purdue, 2022                                    Graduate Certificate, Ole Miss, Administration in Athletics COACHING:              Graduate Assistant, Ole Miss, 2023-24                                    Assistant Coach, Hampton, 2024-present   Brooke Moore joined Coach Tamisha Augustin’s staff in April of 2024 after spending one season as a graduate assistant at Ole Miss. A former high school standout, Moore spent two years at Auburn and two seasons at Purdue.   Mississippi head coach Yolett McPhee-McCuin described Moore as a future star in the business who provided an immediate positive impact when she added her to the Rebel’s staff. Moore spent the 2023-24 season on the bench developing her basketball knowledge under the tutelage of McPhee-McCuin. In her first season at Hampton, the Pirates provided a glimpse of the future as the Pirates knocked off another Power Four school en route to a solid opening campaign. On December 1, 2024, Hampton took on SEC member Georgia and came out with a 76-74 overtime win on a Tyra Kennedy floater at the horn. Hampton had first-time wins over CAA opponents Stony Brook, Towson and Northeastern.   A five-star recruit from Henry County (Ga.) High, Moore was ranked the No. 11 guard by ESPN HoopGurlz. She averaged 22.3 points, 4.0 assistant, and 3.0 steals as a senior leading Henry County to the state championships game. She was named AAAA Player of the Year as a senior and was a three-time Atlanta Journal-Constitution Player of the Year while finishing as the school’s all-time leading scorer with 2,215 points.   Playing at the highest levels, Moore played with Finest Basketball Club (FBC), one of the top grassroots programs in the country, under Coach Alfred “Mo” Motton. A native of Atlanta, Ga., Moore has been a great connector with many contacts and relationships throughout Atlanta and is involved in the local community.   Moore earned a bachelor’s degree and a graduate program certificate in administration in athletics from Ole Miss.

EDUCATION:             B.S., Eastern Kentucky, 2020                                    M.S., Eastern Kentucky, 2022 COACHING:              Director of Basketball Operations, Abilene Christian, 2022-23                                   Director of Basketball Operations, North Florida, 2023-24                                   Director of Basketball Operations, Hampton, 2024-present   I’Liyah Green joined the Hampton women’s basketball staff as the Director of Basketball Operations in April 2024 after serving in similar positions at two Division I universities. She served as the Director of Basketball Operations at Abilene Christian for one season under Coach Julie Goodenough before following Abilene Christan associate head coach Erika Lambert to North Florida the following year.   A native of Louisville, Ky., Green enjoyed a successful playing career at Cincinnati and Eastern Kentucky. She played her scholastic basketball at Louisville’s Male High where she was the team’s leading scorer, rebounder, and shot blocker. She was named All-District 26 and second-team All-Region as a junior. Greene, a three-star recruit out of high school, attended Cincinnati where she was redshirted as a freshman due to injury.   After spending three seasons at Cincinnati where current Hampton head coach Tamisha Augustin served as an assistant coach, she transferred to Eastern Kentucky for her final three seasons. She was named to the Ohio Valley Conference’s All-Newcomer team and served as the team’s captain. She played 59 games at Eastern Kentucky while averaging 6.8 points and 6.6 rebounds per game.   She earned her bachelor’s degree in psychology and master’s degree in sports administration from Eastern Kentucky. Her father, Ibn, played football at Louisville before embarking on an NFL career with the Indianapolis Colts.
