Head Coaching Stints School Year Overall Record Conference Record High Point 2025 7-9 3-2 In Crawley’s first season as a head coach in his young career, he produced one of the best seasons in the Atlantic 10 Conference for the Panthers. During the 2025 season, High Point went 7-9 overall and 3-2 in the league finishing as the A10 regular season Runner-Up for the first time since joining the A10 in 2023. He guided the No. 2 seeded Panthers to the A10 Championship game for the second time after knocking off No. 3 seed Saint Joseph’s in the semifinals. Following the Championship game, four players were named to the A10 All-Championship team, including Luca Accardo, Justin Wixted, Ryan Hynes and Zack Overend. During the regular season, HPU defeated two ranked opponents, first on the road against No. 16 University of Massachusetts (14-9) and then at home against No. 16 Saint Joseph’s (11-9). Eight Panthers were named to the A10 All-Conference team including Luca Accardo (First Team), Owen Bunten (Second Team), Zack Brenfleck (Second Team), Ryan Hynes (Second Team), Collin Rovere (Second Team), Zack Overend (Second Team), Carson Robins (All-Rookie), James Westbrooks (All-Rookie), Collin Cooke (All-Academic) and Jack McAdams (All-Academic). This was the largest amount of post season awards the Panthers had received since becoming a member of the A10. Crawley took over at the helm for High Point as the second head coach since the inauguration of the men's lacrosse program in 2010. He joined the Panthers after spending the 2023 and 2024 seasons as an Assistant Coach and Offensive Coordinator/Recruiting Coordinator at Johns Hopkins University. During his two-year stint with the Blue Jays, he was appointed the offensive coordinator in June of 2022 while also serving as the program's recruiting coordinator. During the 2024 season, the Blue Jays posted an 11-5 overall record with a 5-0 record in the Big Ten Conference to be crowned the Big Ten regular season champs. Johns Hopkins earned one of the eight at-large bids to the NCAA Tournament and matched up with Lehigh from the Patriot League in the first round. Making it past LeHigh, 13-10, in the opening round of the tournament, a heartbreaking one goal loss in double overtime of the NCAA Quarterfinals against Virginia ended the Blue Jays' season. Crawley helped the offense average 11.56 goals per game with a 17th ranked .309 shot percentage in the country. In 2023, Crawley helped guide the Blue Jays offense to 12.56 goals per game with a .329 shot percentage on the year. The 12.56 goals per game is the second-best average at Hopkins since 2004 and the team's shooting percentage was the highest for Johns Hopkins since 2015. The Blue Jays went 12-6 on the season with a 4-1 conference record. The Blue Jays made it to the second round of the NCAA Tournament before falling to the 2023 National Champions Notre Dame, 12-9. Crawley's return to Homewood came after spending three years as an assistant coach at Lehigh University. At Lehigh, Crawley served as the offensive coordinator of a Mountain Hawk offense that ranked among the nation's best throughout his tenure. Lehigh ranked 15th in the nation in scoring offense during the COVID-shortened 2020 season (14.00) and jumped into the top 10 in 2021 (14.08), when the Mountain Hawks advanced to the NCAA Tournament for the first time since 2013. Overall, during Crawley's 33 games as Lehigh's offensive coordinator, the Mountain Hawks averaged just under 13 goals per game and the three single-season scoring averages of 14.08, 14.00 and 11.40 to rank as the three highest averages at Lehigh in the last 20 years. Crawley began his coaching career at Notre Dame in 2018 and helped the Irish to the ACC Tournament title and a trip to the NCAA Tournament. At Notre Dame, he worked closely with the offense and faceoff unit. He then moved to Colgate for one season (2019) before joining the staff at Lehigh. Crawley was a four-year standout for the Johns Hopkins men's lacrosse team from 2014-17. The two-time captain and two-time Honorable Mention USILA All-American played in all 64 games during his four-year career at Johns Hopkins and started the final 30. He totaled 70 career goals and 30 assists, including career highs of 21 goals and 11 assists for 32 points in 2015, when he helped lead the Blue Jays to the NCAA Semifinals and the inaugural Big Ten Tournament title. He earned a spot on the 2015 NCAA All-Tournament team. In addition to his time at Johns Hopkins, Crawley has also played professional lacrosse in both Major League Lacrosse and the Premier Lacrosse League. He was selected 33rd overall by the Charlotte Hounds in the 2017 MLL Draft and played two seasons for the Hounds. He rang up 26 goals and 10 assists in the MLL before moving to Atlas LC in the PLL, where he played four seasons. What They're Saying About Crawley: "We are truly excited for John and the opportunity for him to be the head men's lacrosse coach at High Point University. I am certain that he will carry those same traits with him as he leads the way at High Point. The Panthers are gaining an exceptional representative to High Point University and we wish him the best of luck as he begins this next chapter in his coaching career." - Peter Milliman, Johns Hopkins Head Coach "I could not be more excited for John. Jon Torpey
Head Coach
Torpey has led the High Point University men's lacrosse team since its inception, having been named the program's first head coach in 2010. In just three seasons of NCAA competition, Torpey has built HPU into a program that has qualified for one NCAA Tournament and missed another berth by one goal. He brought in the program's first recruiting class and led the team to three wins in the first season of NCAA competition. Torpey guided HPU to its first program win in the second game of the 2012 season, a 9-7 victory over Towson on Feb. 8, 2013. Towson would go to the NCAA Tournament at the end of the season. The Panthers also picked up wins over Michigan and Mercer in the inaugural season. HPU improved in 2013 with a 9-7 record and a co-regular season Atlantic Sun title. The Panthers fell one game short of the NCAA Tournament with an 8-7 setback to Richmond in the A-Sun Championship game. During the season, Torpey coached conference players of the year Dan Lomas (Offensive) and Austin Geisler (Defensive) as Lomas earned All-American honors. Torpey and the program continued to grow in 2015 with a 10-7 record and a Southern Conference tournament championship and subsequent berth in the NCAA Tournament. The Panthers contest at Towson was the first time an HPU mens team participated in an NCAA Tournament game. The Purple & White earned their first win over a ranked opponent against No. 20 Richmond in the SoCon title. Lomas once again earned conference offensive player of the year while Geisler and Pat Farrell became the first two players in program history to be selected in the Major League Lacrosse Draft. The Panthers are 22-26 in three seasons with an 8-3 record in conference games. Meanwhile, Torpey and HPU are 13-10 at Vert Stadium. Along with the three conference player of the year awards, HPU has garnered 14 all-conference first or second team selections in the last two years. Torpey came to HPU after two seasons as associate head coach at Darmouth and five seasons at the University of Denver. "Jon Torpey is an incredible coach who gives instant credibility to the High Point University men's lacrosse program," said HPU Athletic Director Craig Keilitz after Torpey was hired. "He has a proven record of on-field success as both a coach and player. Just as important, Jon really understands the off-field aspects of coaching, including recruiting high-character student-athletes who will excel athletically and academically and will represent HPU in a positive way on campus and in the community." Torpey has quickly built a reputation as one of the best young lacrosse coaches in the nation. He was still playing professional lacrosse when he was named assistant coach at Denver in July 2004. In 2006 when he was 28 years old, Torpey was named associate head coach at Denver, becoming the youngest Div. I coach in that position. At 32 years old, Torpey became one of the youngest head coaches in NCAA Div. I when he joined High Point University. "One word comes to mind when I think of High Point University: excellence," said Torpey. "Every single thing they do at High Point University is for the development of the students whether it's academically, personally or athletically and everything is top notch. When I met Craig Keilitz and the athletic department staff and coaches, it was obvious that it's more than a department, it's a family and everyone is committed to helping the student-athletes reach their maximum potential. I am extremely excited to join HPU and start building the men's lacrosse program from the ground up." At Dartmouth, Torpey assisted in all aspects of the program, including recruiting all over the United States and Canada. He was responsible for monitoring educational progress and organizing successful fundraising efforts. As defensive coordinator, he coached the 2010 Big Green to the third-lowest goals against in the Ivy League and led the team to the second-best penalty-killing percentage in the league. The highlight of the season was holding No. 6 Cornell to six goals in an 8-6 win at Gillette Stadium. The Big Red eventually made it to the NCAA Final Four. Torpey was a member of the University of Denver lacrosse staff from 2004-09, helping build the Pioneers' program into a national contender in an area of the country that wasn't typically known for lacrosse. In Torpey's second season of 2006, he was instrumental in helping Denver to a 12-5 overall record and 5-0 league record, its first outright Great Western Lacrosse League title and its first-ever NCAA Tournament berth. Torpey was elevated to associate head coach following that season. Denver made its second NCAA Tournament appearance in 2008 and earned a No. 11 postseason national ranking, the best in team history. While Torpey was on staff, Denver posted a 47-32 overall record and a 17-8 Great Western Lacrosse League record. Prior to Denver, Torpey coached three seasons at Goucher College and one at Denison University, both members of NCAA Div. III. He coached Goucher's scoring defense from being unranked to No. 13 in the country in three seasons. He helped coach the 2001 Denison squad to the NCAA Div. III Final Four. Torpey played collegiate lacrosse at Ohio State under head coach Joe Breschi, who is now the head coach at North Carolina. A defenseman, Torpey was a three-year captain and was named Street and Smith All-American as a senior. In his junior year, Torpey helped lead the Buckeyes to a 10-3 record, the team's highest win total in over a decade, and its first-ever Great Western Lacrosse League title. He was a three-time Big Ten All-Academic selection, a four-year Scholar-Athlete Award winner and a finalist for the Big Ten Medal of Honor and the Corwin A. Fergus Award for athletic and academic achievement. "I think High Point University has made an outstanding choice in hiring Jon Torpey," said Breschi. "He is the first and only player I have coached who was a captain as a sophomore. It shows his leadership and ability to rally guys around him as well as his tenacity as a player. As a coach, he has gained the respect of the lacrosse community. He will do an amazing job to bring High Point University to the national level with his ability to coach and recruit and his knowledge of the game. I'm thrilled about this hire." As a professional player, Torpey was part of championship teams in both the National Lacrosse League and Major League Lacrosse. He played with the NLL's Philadelphia Wings, Colorado Mammoth and Columbus Landsharks, winning a world title with the Mammoth in 2006. In the MLL, Torpey played for the Philadelphia Barrage team that won the championship in 2004 as well as the Denver Outlaws. Ready was apart of the staff that guided the No. 2 seeded Panthers to the A10 Championship game for the second time after knocking off No. 3 seed Saint Joseph’s in the semifinals. Twelve Panthers earned post season honors as eight players made the A10 All-Conference selections and four players were named to the A10 All-Championship team. During the regular season, HPU defeated two ranked opponents, first on the road against No. 16 University of Massachusetts (14-9) and then at home against No. 16 Saint Joseph’s (11-9). Ready helped guide the Panthers defense as one of the best in the league, ranking No. 1 in the A10 in ground balls per game (36.88) and caused turnovers per game (10.12). In goal, High Point ranked No. 3 in save percentage with a .526. The Panthers were led by Zack Overend in goal posting a .536 save percentage averaging 9.41 saves per game. Overend set the single game record with 23 saves against Saint Joseph's (April 19, 2025) with a career-best .719 save percentage. He became the fourth player in program history to be named to the USILA Team of the Week. Ready joined the Panthers after spending the 2023 & 2024 seasons as an assistant coach with the Duke men's lacrosse staff. The Blue Devils appeared in the NCAA Tournament in both seasons, making the Championship game against Notre Dame in 2023 and the quarterfinals against Maryland in 2024. Duke finished the 2024 season with the No. 18 ranked scoring defense in the country, holding teams to 10.42 goals per game. As a team the Blue Devils averaged 11.63 saves per game. Matthew Lintner
Assistant Coach
The High Point University Men's Lacrosse program added Matthew Lintner to the 2025 coaching staff as announced by Head Coach John Crawley in July of 2024. During the 2025 season, High Point went 7-9 overall and 3-2 in the league finishing as the A10 regular season runner-ups for the first time since joining the A10 in 2023. Lintner was apart of the staff that guided the No. Prior to HPU, Lintner spent four seasons at Roanoke College under head coach Bill Pilat's men's lacrosse staff where he previously played four years of lacrosse before graduating in 2019. After joining the Maroons in the fall of 2020 as the second assistant coach, he was elevated to the lead assistant coach and recruiting coordinator during the 2024 season. Over his four years, he ran the offensive side of the ball, being named the team's offensive coordinator in the summer of 2021. He also ran the team's extra man unit all four years, coached the faceoff unit in the 2021 season, worked with the goalies all four years, and served as the team's strength and conditioning coordinator from summer of 2021-November of 2023. During his time in Maroon, the team earned many individual and team accolades. Over this time frame, Roanoke earned spots in the USILA Top 20 rankings numerous times. He also coached 29 All-ODAC selections, including seven first team and ten second team selections, the 2023 Conference Player of the Year, and the 2023 leading goal scorer in the conference. Lintner also coached 14 USILA All-Americans, ten of them being offensive players, including a 2023 1st Team All-American attackman. In two of his four years, the Maroons were awarded the ODAC Rookie of the Year. Additionally, two freshmen were named USILA All-Americans, an accomplishment that only two other Roanoke players had ever achieved before. The offense experienced more record breaking moments over the past four years. For the first time in program history, three current players hit 200 career points. All three players exceeded 80 points on the year and are currently ranked 1st (335), 6th (247), and 13th (218), on the program's All-Time career points record. One of these players, Luke Kammerman, also set records in the conference for career assists (177), and the program in single season points (111), assists (51), and career points (335) – records that had stood for decades. Another, Wyatt Whitlow, currently sits second in career goals (198). In three out of four years, the Maroons also reset the top three best scoring duos in program history, which had stood for 20 years. In 2024, the Maroons offense finished fourth in the country with 17.85 goals/game, which also stands fourth all time in program history. After scoring 357 goals on the year, they tied the 2009 team for most goals in a season; their 195 assists and 552 total points also sit fourth all time. Lintner helped guide the Maroons to two NCAA Tournament appearances in the last three seasons, earning an automatic bid in 2024 and 2022. During his time on staff, Roanoke compiled an overall record of 45-25 with a 26-9 record in the Old Dominion Athletic Conference. Lintner returned to his Alma Mater after serving as the Director of Operations and Volunteer Assistant at Colgate University for the Covid-19, 2020 season. As a part of the Raider's coaching staff, Lintner worked with the faceoff specialist and goalies. While helping Colgate navigate the early stages of the COVID-19 pandemic, Lintner would help guide a program that would play the #1, 2, and 5 teams in the country as well as a pair of Patriot League opponents. During his time as a student-athlete at Roanoke, Lintner played in 66 games for head coach Bill Pilat. For his career, he tallied 85 career points on 55 goals and 30 assists. During his senior season, Lintner scored 28 goals to go with 15 helpers on his way to being named Third Team All-ODAC as an attackman. Upon his graduation in 2019, Lintner earned his Bachelor's degree in Sports Management.
