"Serving as the offensive and recruiting coordinator, Wyatt has built a basketball brand that was top 5 in the nation in offensive scoring two years in a row and won multiple championships with back-to-back NCAA Tournament appearances. He values family and building impactful relationships with players, donors, and fans which are cornerstones of our HPU Athletic Department. In his most recent season, Foust helped guide Murray State to a 30-4 overall record and a 19-1 mark in Missouri Valley Conference play in 2025-26. The Racers captured both the Missouri Valley regular season and tournament championships en route to earning a No. 12 seed in the NCAA Tournament, and being ranked No. 5 nationally in scoring offense. The year prior with the Racers in 2024-25, he compiled a 25-8 overall record and 16-4 conference record, while being crowned Missouri Valley Regular Season Champions, Missouri Valley Tournament Champions and earning an No. 11 seed in the NCAA Tournament and being ranked No. 2 in the nation in scoring offense. "I'm honored Dr. Qubein and AD Hauser have put their faith in me to lead the women's basketball program here at High Point University," Foust said. "This university is on a meteoric trajectory in every aspect and I'm excited to continue to elevate this program to new heights." Foust has been part of three NCAA Tournament teams at Murray State, earning bids in 2021-22, 2024-25, and 2025-26. The 2021-22 appearance marked the program's first postseason berth since 2009. Between his stints at Murray State, Foust spent the 2022-23 season as an assistant coach and recruiting coordinator at Buffalo. He returned to Murray State for the 2023-24 season, where he helped improve the win total by five wins for a WNIT appearance. From there, Foust oversaw all recruiting and took the lead on offensive game planning that elevated the Racers' win total to 25 wins in 2024-25 and then 31 wins in 2025-26 to sweep Missouri Valley titles and earn NCAA Tournament bids. Before entering the collegiate ranks, Foust found tremendous success at the high school level in Kentucky, compiling a 101-15 record. He spent two seasons at Butler Traditional High School, leading the Bears to a 41-8 record and consecutive Region 6 title game appearances. Prior to that, Foust served as the head girls' varsity coach at Murray High School in 2018 and 2019, where he posted a 60-7 record. Foust was named Kentucky Coach of the Year by USA Today and earned Region Coach of the Year honors twice. Foust also held coaching roles at Owensboro Catholic, Notre Dame Academy, and Greenwood High School, where he began his career at his alma mater in 2012. He graduated from Kentucky Wesleyan College in 2012 with a Bachelor of Science in Biology. He later earned master's degrees from Western Kentucky (2014) and Georgetown College (2019) in recreation and sport management and teaching. Foust and his wife, Jenna, have three children: Coy, Noa, and Townes. What they're saying about Coach Foust: "High Point has hired one of the most well-rounded young coaches in college basketball. Wyatt has an unmatched work ethic, and he is a triple threat when it comes to building a winning team. He is an exceptional recruiter, he is meticulous in scout and preparation, and he excels at in-game adjustments. Wyatt has been an integral part of our championship run here at Murray State, and we wish him the very best in this exciting new chapter of his career." - Rechelle Turner, Murray State Women's Basketball Head Coach “I’m incredibly excited for High Point and for Coach Foust. Watching him work from afar, I always felt his time was coming—and it’s great to see that become a reality. What has consistently stood out is his ability to teach, recruit, and lead student-athletes, all while building a championship-level program. In every interaction, he was intentional about growing—not just as a coach, but as a leader, father, and husband. That kind of mindset translates directly into sustained success. Coach Foust understands what it takes to build a strong foundation, positively impact student-athletes, and win at a high level. I’m looking forward to watching him continue to elevate High Point Basketball and build on its success.” - Steve Prohm, Former Iowa State Men’s Basketball Head Coach

Katie Clayman
Assistant Coach
HIGH POINT, N.C. — High Point University Women's Basketball Head Coach Chelsea Banbury announced the hiring of Katie Clayman, formerly Katie Gruys, as the Panthers' newest assistant coach in the summer of 2023. "I am so grateful and humbled to join Coach Banbury and her great staff," Clayman said. "They've done a tremendous job establishing the program on and off the court. I am excited to help them continue to build on the success they've had and compete for Big South Championships. Since the moment I stepped on campus, it was obvious how special High Point University is." Clayman comes to High Point after a four-year stint at Southern Utah University, where she joined the Thunderbirds as an assistant coach in 2019 before being promoted to associate head coach in July of 2020. During her tenure, she was monumental in helping SUU reach three consecutive winning seasons for the first time since the program did in 1993-96. In 2022-23, the Thunderbirds were crowned WAC regular-season champions and earned their first-ever trip to the NCAA Tournament against No. 14 Notre Dame. In her first season on staff, Clayman helped lead Southern Utah to an 18-13 record, posting its first winning season and best home-court record (12-3) since 2013-14. On top of her assistant coach efforts, she was the team's academic advisor as the Thunderbirds finished top five in the entire country for team GPA. Additionally, she was key in the recruitment and development of All-Big Sky members Cherita Daugherty, Daylani Ballena, Lizzy Williamson, and Defensive Player of the Year Rebecca Cardenas, among others. "We are so excited to be able to add someone with so much experience and knowledge of the game to our staff," Banbury said. "Katie brings an energy about the game that I'm really looking forward to working with. On and off the court!" Before heading to Southern Utah, Clayman spent the previous two seasons as an assistant coach at Willamette University, a Division III institution in Oregon. During her time at WU, the Bearcats had a combined record of 28-24, including a 17-10 record in 2017-18. They would go on to finish that season as the runner-up in the Northwest Conference Tournament and clinch their first winning season since 2000-01. Clayman also served as the head coach for the Willamette Valley Basketball 16U Club in the spring of 2019. The former Gruys spent 2016-17 as a graduate assistant at Clemson University, where she was in charge of many administrative duties for the women's basketball team. She helped with scheduling and team travel, as well as community service projects and recruiting weekends. Prior to attending Clemson as a graduate student, Clayman earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration from the University of Oregon in 2016. She competed in women's basketball as well as track and field during all four years at Oregon. She helped the Ducks reach the semifinals of the Women's National Invitational Tournament (WNIT) in 2015-16. While at Oregon, Clayman also was a member of the Student-Athlete Advisory Committee. She helped organize various volunteer and community service opportunities. She worked with 20 other student-athletes to build a sport court in Nicaragua in just one week. In addition, Clayman served as president of the University of Oregon crew in the Love Your Melon Foundation from 2014-16. Love Your Melon raised funds to support children and their families who are battling cancer. She also organized opportunities for Oregon's student-athletes to visit Doernbecher Children's Hospital in Portland, Oregon. Clayman is originally from Annandale, Minnesota. She resides in High Point with her husband, Flynn Clayman. #GoHPU
