Highland Community College-Kansas Women's Volleyball

Andrea Collins Keller previously led the Scotties from 2004–2010 before returning in 2023 to once again direct the Highland Community College volleyball program. Throughout her tenure at HCC, Keller has earned three Jayhawk Conference Coach of the Year honors, guided four teams to national rankings, and mentored a long list of accomplished student-athletes, including 18 All-Conference selections, 18 All-Region honorees, and four All-Americans. Her teams have also consistently excelled in the classroom, earning academic recognition while remaining actively involved in service-learning initiatives within the community. Following a brief hiatus from coaching, Keller spent six seasons leading the Doniphan West High School volleyball program, highlighted by a 3rd place finish at the 2022 Kansas 1A State Tournament. During the 2025 season, she reached another major milestone by recording her 200th collegiate coaching victory. A proud HCC alumna, Keller was as an All-Conference setter during her playing career and was also recognized as an NJCAA Academic All-American.

Cheryl Rasmussen is thrilled to return to HCC as the assistant women’s volleyball coach under Head Coach Andrea Keller. From 2002 to 2017, Rasmussen served as Vice President of Student Services at HCC. Before her time at HCC, she was both a teacher and administrator at Highland High School, where she also coached high school volleyball for 18 seasons. A highlight of her career was leading the Highland High School Bluestreaks to a State Championship in 1992.  Coach Rasmussen, who was also Coach Keller’s high school coach, reflects on their evolving relationship: “It’s funny how the roles have reversed. I genuinely enjoy working with Andrea and deeply respect her extensive knowledge of the game, her work ethic, and her understanding that success requires more than just athletic talent. We focus on comprehensive development both on and off the court.” She believes that the experiences gained through Keller’s coaching are transformative. “We emphasize that we are a volleyball family, and the bonds we build will last a lifetime.”
