Chad Dickman
Head Coach
Dickman was hired as the men's golf coach at Hood College in the summer of 2013. In his first three seasons, he has built the program into a contender in the Middle Atlantic Conference Commonwealth. In 2015-16, the men's golf program had the best season in school history. The Blazers finished a program best third at the MAC Commonwealth Championships. The season placed six entries among the top 10 team scores in school history on the way to a record average of 327.5, 12 strokes lower than the previous record, set the previous year. Michael Bushman and Andy Baker turned in two of the three best individual seasons in team history, including a record 80.5 by Bushman. The 2014-15 team was one of the best in school history. The Blazers set the school record for team scoring average and Michael Bushman and Andy Baker had season averages placing them in the top five in Hood's record book. He is just the third golf coach in the history of the program, taking over duties from his father, Tom Dickman, who serves as Hood's director of athletics. In addition to his duties with the golf team, Dickman serves as the head coach of the men's basketball program and is the Blazers' facilities coordinator. Dickman returned to Frederick after spending nine years at Wheeling Jesuit University as the associate head coach of the men's basketball team and was the Cardinals compliance officer from 2006-13. While there, he helped the men's basketball program to three NCAA appearances, the first in school history. Known as a tireless recruiter, Dickman helped bring in two West Virginia Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Freshmen of the Year and several all-conference selections. In 2012, he recruited Ohios Mr. Basketball (Justin Fritts) to Wheeling Jesuit The local product played high school basketball for his father at Governor Thomas Johnson High School. While there, he helped the Patriots win the 1997 State Championship and led the team to the 1998 State Final Four, earning all-state honors his senior year. Dickman continued his playing career at St. Vincent from 1998-2002, scoring 1,279 points, currently ranked 11th in school history. He also earned all-conference honors his junior and senior year. Dickman led the Bearcats to the NAIA Tournament twice, reaching the Elite 8 in 2002. Dickman received a bachelors degree in finance from St. Vincent in 2002 and earned his MBA from Indiana University of Pennsylvania in 2004.
