James Dempsey
Assistant Coach
Dempsey hails originally from Galway, Ireland and comes to Hood College after a successful playing and coaching career in Mississippi and Colorado. Dempsey made the move over to the United States in 2017 to play for Pearl River Community College mens soccer program under head coach Drew Gallant. In 2017, Dempsey and the team won the Mississippi state championship and advanced to the national tournament. The following season Dempsey made the move to Belhaven University in Jackson, Mississippi under the leadership of head coach James Gledhill, a previous Temple University women's soccer coach. Dempsey went on to be a pivotal part of the Blazers attack, starting as a center forward for the three seasons that followed, helping the Blazers qualify for the American Southwest Conference playoffs three years in a row, posting winning records each year and ranking No. 25 in the nation in 2019. Throughout Dempseys collegiate playing career, he also coached multiple Mississippi Rush soccer club youth teams while pursuing his degree in Sports management. After graduating Dempsey made the move to Colorado Springs where he coached at Colorado Pride soccer club and was the head boys coach at Vista Ridge High School. Dempsey returned to Mississippi the following year to begin a master's degree in business administration from Belhaven University, where he joined the staff as a volunteer assistant coach. That same year, Dempsey became the assistant boys' soccer coach at Hartfield Academy, helping the program win their first Division 1 Mississippi state championship.

Colin Viti joined the Hood Mens Soccer coaching staff in February of 2025. Viti returns to Hood College after playing collegiately for the Blazers from 2013-2017. As a player at Hood, Viti ranks top 10 all time in total career points and was a part of two Blazer teams, 2015 and 2016, that rank 1st and 2nd all time in school history for season win totals. Viti graduated from Hood College with a Bachelor's degree in Integrated Marketing Communications with a minor in Psychology. Prior to coaching at Hood, Viti spent 7 years on the boys soccer coaching staff at Middletown High School. During his time with the Knights, Viti helped Middletown win the 2016 MD 2A State Championship, the 2020 FCPS CMC Championship, and 5 conference titles. Viti also currently serves as Senior Boys Program Director for local youth soccer club FC Frederick, and additionally serves as assistant coach for FC Fredericks NPSL team. Viti has coached for FC Frederick since graduating from Hood College in 2017. Viti currently holds a U.S. Soccer National B License. Viti was born in Frederick, MD and graduated from Catoctin High School in 2013 where he was an All-State player for his dad and former Hood Men's Soccer assistant, Bob Viti. In addition to coaching, Viti currently works as a Marketing Campaign Strategist in the education technology industry.
