Hood College Women's Field Hockey

Buhrman '14 has been named the new field hockey head coach at Hood College.  During her first season, she coached two NFHCA Scholars of Distinction and the Blazers placed four on both the NFHCA and Middle Atlantic Conference Academic Honor Rolls.  A native of Smithsburg, Md., and product of Middletown High School, Buhrman was the first Hood field hockey player to be named All-Capital Athletic Conference. She earned the honor as a junior in 2011 after leading the conference in defensive saves. She finished her career with 29 defensive saves, good for third all-time in the Blazer record book.  "I am extremely excited to be given the opportunity to be Hood's next field hockey coach," Buhrman said. "I have been very fortunate to have learned from great coaches and cannot wait to help this program continue to grow. I'd like to thank Tom Dickman for giving me the opportunity to build this program." Buhrman has served as the head junior varsity coach at Governor Thomas Johnson High School in Frederick and has coached with Frederick County Parks and Recreation and the MVAA youth program. A 2014 graduate of Hood, she earned her bachelor's degree in sociology.
