Stu Fritz
Head Coach
Fritz has guided the Flying Dutchmen to MIAA Championships in 1994, 1997, 1998, 1999, 2001, 2003, 2006, 2007 and 2013. The nine league championships are tied for second most in MIAA history. The Flying Dutchmen have appeared in the NCAA Division III championships in 1998, 2001, 2003 and 2007. Fritz's collegiate coaching record through the 2015 regular season is 505-382-2. His teams have won more than two-thirds of their MIAA conference games (361-191, .654). He is also an assistant professor of kinesiology. Fritz is currently a vice-president for the American Baseball Coaches Association. He will remain in that role until becoming the organization's president in 2020. Fritz has chaired the NCAA championships national committee. From 1996 to 1998 he coached a youth team through the Roberto Clemente All-Stars program in San Juan, Puerto Rico, during the summer. In the summer of 2001 he coached a U.S. youth all-star team in Australia. The 2007 Hope team played in the 26th annual "Prague Baseball Week" tournament in the Czech Republic. Prior to coming to Hope, Fritz taught in the Humboldt, Iowa, school system. He was an elementary physical education teacher, thehigh school baseball coach and offensive coordinator for the high school football team. Fritz is a 1988 graduate of Wartburg College where he lettered in football and baseball. He received a Masters degree in sports administration from the University of Northern Colorado in1992. In 1998, his alma mater honored him as Wartburg's Alumni Coach of the Year. His wife, Carol, is a member of the Hope College admissions staff. Ryan Dorow
Head Coach
Ryan Dorow was introduced as the 10th head coach for Hope College baseball on May 31, 2024. Dorow previously served on the Flying Dutchmen coaching staff for two years. In 2024, Dorow was the team's recruiting coordinator under head coach Stu Fritz. Before Hope, Dorow was a decorated four-year starter at Adrian College. He was a three-time, All-American recipient along with three-time MIAA Position Player of the Year. As a freshman, Dorow was named Rookie of the Year by D3baseball.com. Dorow still holds multiple career records at Adrian College, including total bases (425), doubles (57), runs scored (179), home runs (25), and RBI (188). After graduating from Adrian College, Dorow was drafted by the Texas Rangers. In his seven years playing professionally, Dorow was named Organizational Defensive Player of the Year in 2018 along with a Carolina League All Star in 2019. Dorow made his Major League debut against the Cleveland Guardians during the 2021 season. Dorow, originally from South Haven, lives in Paw Paw with his wife, Macy, and their son, Riley. Tom Kort
Assistant Coach
Tom Kort joined the Hope College Baseball coaching staff as an assistant coach and recruiting coordinator in June 2024. Kort previously served as an assistant coach and recruiting coordinator at Calvin University (2021-23) and his alma mater, Olivet College (now The University of Olivet), for one season (2016). The native of New Hudson, Michigan, coached high school baseball at Byron Center for three season (2018-20). Kort graduated from Olivet with a bachelor's degree in sports and recreation management. At Olivet, Kort was a four-year starter and finished his career ranked fourth in career assists (303) and seventh in fielding chances (577).
