Hunter College Men's Volleyball

Pompeo joins the Hawks after spending the past two seasons at Sage College of Albany as the head men's volleyball coach, where he earned 17 wins and guided three players to All-Skyline Conference honors. Prior to Sage College, Pompeo spent his first collegiate season as an assistant coach at Kean University. While at Kean, Pompeo was primarily in charge of opponent scouting, recruiting and match preparation, while helping lead the team to a 26-8 record. Kean also assisted the Cougars to a Skyline Conference championship, as well as the program's first NCAA tournament victory.  Before joining a collegiate staff, Pompeo began his coaching career at Hillsborough High School, assisting the varsity coach and developing players that would later finish with a 20-5 record. He continued to coach at the high school level, most recently assisting at Niskayuna High School and leading the team to a program-best, 18-6 record. Pompeo also spent the past year as the owner and club director of the Sporting Albany Volleyball Club, where he managed tournament schedules, rosters, budget, recruitment, player development, practice plans and travel.  As a member of the men's volleyball team at Kean University, Pompeo served as the team captain in 2011 and 2012. He helped lead the team to two Skyline Conference championships, recording 128 kills, 21 blocks and 225 digs. Pompeo graduated from Kean University in 2013 with a B.A. in English. Sean Salomons joins the Hunter College women's volleyball program for his first season in 2025, as the Associate Head Coach and Recruiting Coordinator.  Salomons brings nearly a decade of coaching and program leadership experience to the Hawks, with a proven track record of building competitive teams, mentoring student-athletes, and managing all facets of team operations. A former dual-sport collegiate athlete, Salomons combines deep knowledge of the game with a passion for student development both on and off the court. Salomons most recently served as head coach for both the men’s and women’s volleyball teams at St. Joseph’s University Brooklyn, where he guided the women’s program to its first winning season since 2018. In addition to leading practices, managing travel, and overseeing budgets, he played a central role in recruiting academically driven student-athletes and maintaining a 100% graduation rate for both programs. He also holds extensive experience at the high school and club levels. Since 2019, Salomons has coached both the varsity boys’ and girls’ volleyball teams at Packer Collegiate Institute, where he led the girls’ squad to multiple top-10 rankings among New York State private schools.  Simultaneously, Salmons serves as Director of the Supreme Basketball NYC high school AAU program, overseeing organizational strategy, coach development, fundraising, and player development clinics across the city.  Salomons holds a Bachelor of Arts in Criminal Justice from St. Joseph’s University New York, where he was president of the Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC) and a member of both the basketball and volleyball teams. Known for his commitment to culture-building, recruiting, and holistic athlete development, Salomons is excited to help elevate the women's volleyball program while continuing to mentor the next generation of student-athletes.
