Nat Clark

Head Coach

Nat Clark has served as the head coach of the Husson football program since February 2019 where he has guided the Eagles to an 29-23 (.558) overall record and an 18-11 (.621) mark against conference opponents. In addition to his role as head coach, Clark also serves as the team's wide receivers coach with 24 years of coaching experience. The fourth head coach in the Eagles’ 20-year history since the program was re-established after a 58-year hiatus in 2002, Clark spent 12 seasons as an assistant head football coach and was named Eastern Collegiate Football Conference Assistant Coach of the Year in 2016.  Prior to returning to Husson in 2013, Clark served as an assistant football coach at Bangor High School for four seasons from 2009-2012. Bangor reached the Class A State Championship game during the 2009 and 2010 seasons. While at Bangor, Clark also served as a physical education teacher. Clark began his coaching career at Bangor High School before coming to Husson in 2002. The Bangor, Maine native was a four-year member of the University of Maine football program graduating in 2000 with a bachelor's of science in physical eduction. Clark earned his master's degree in educational leadership from Maine in 2012.    Clark and his wife, Jill — who is a first grade teacher in the Bangor School system — reside in Bangor with their children, Max, Landon and Avery.    NAT CLARK'S YEAR-BY-YEAR COACHING RESULTS Season Overall Conf. Vicktor Williams-Barros '25

Vicktor Williams-Barros joined the Husson University football program as an assistant coach in August of 2025 and currently serves as an assistant offensive line and tight ends coach. CAREER AT A GLANCE: Since joining the Husson coaching staff, Williams-Barros has helped the Eagles to a 4-6 (.400) overall record, including a 3-4 (.429) mark in Conference of New England games. COACHING TIMELINE:  2025-Present: Husson University (Assistant Offensive Line/Tight Ends Coach) ATHLETIC CAREER:  Williams-Barros appeared in 22 games for the Husson University football program over his five years with the team. Throughout his time with the Eagles, Williams-Barros helped the team to a 25-17 record and two bowl game appearances.

Alex Brown

Coach

Alex Brown joined the Husson University football program as an assistant coach in August of 2024 and currently serves as the cornerbacks coach. CAREER AT A GLANCE:  Since joining the Eagles in 2024, Brown has helped lead the team to a 10-11 (.476) overall record, including a 6-6 (.500) mark in Conference of New England games. Brown helped guide the Eagles to a Fusion Bowl appearance in 2024 after finishing as the CNE runner-up. Brown has coached one Conference of New England Rookie of the Year winner - Brayden Trombly (2024). Brown has led two Conference of New England All-Conference selection - Brayden Trombly (2024) and Kane Smith (2025). COACHING TIMELINE:  2024: Husson University (Defensive Backs Coach) 2025-Present: Husson University (Cornerbacks Coach) ATHLETIC CAREER:  Brown was a player at Husson from 2019-2023, where he appeared in 30 games and tallied 98 solo tackles, 50 assisted tackles, three tackles for loss, three interceptions, 29 pass breakups, one forced fumble and two fumble recoveries. Brown finished top-five or better on the team in total tackles during his junior and senior seasons, while finishing with the most pass breakups on the team in both years. As a member of the Eagles, Brown helped the team to a 23-18 record over his four years, including a runner-up finish in the Commonwealth Coast Conference in 2022, which earned Husson a home bowl game that year.

Greg Vreeland

Coach

Greg Vreeland has served as the offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach of the Husson University football program since July of 2024. CAREER AT A GLANCE:  Since joining the Husson coaching staff, Vreeland has helped the Eagles to a 10-11 (.476) overall record, including a 6-6 (.500) mark in Conference of New England games. Vreeland helped guide the Eagles to a Fusion Bowl appearance in 2024 after finishing as the CNE runner-up. Vreeland has coached numerous Conference of New England All-Conference selections - Jed Lober (2024), Nason Berthelette (2024), Ja'Quan Myles (2024), Cullen Casey (2024), Jade Hutchinson (2024), John Dugan (2024), Max Clark (2025) and Cam Holmes (2025). While at Hartwick, Vreeland coached three All-Empire 8 selections - Justin Lobasso (2021, 2022) and Nate Rath (2023). At Norwich, Vreeland guided Mani Romero, who became the first preseason All-American in school history (2020), in addition to being named the Joe Zabilski award winner in 2019 (Best D2/D3 player in New England), the NEWMAC offensive player of the year (2018), the golden helmet winner (2018), a two-time All-NEWMAC selection and the program record holder for most receiving yards in a game (2018). Also at Norwich, Vreeland mentored Trevor Chase to a NEWMAC rookie of the year award in 2019 and the school record for most catches in a game that same year, in addition to leading Lavonte Deciues to a rookie of the year selection in 2018. While at MIT, Vreeland led John Robinson to a first team All-NEWMAC selection in 2017. At East Coast Prep, Vreeland coached Sam Franklin in 2015, who was the first NFL player in the history of East Coast Prep. Vreeland coached Kevin Alberque, the ECFC offensive player of the year at Castleton in 2014. Paytton Hobbs

Since arriving at Husson University in March of 2020, Paytton Hobbs has severed as the defensive coordinator, linebackers coach and recruiting coordinator for the Husson football program. CAREER AT A GLANCE: In Hobbs' first full season as the team's defensive coordinator, Husson finished first in the Commonwealth Coast Conference in points allowed per game with 17.2, which ranked 35th in the country. The Eagles also ranked 51st in the country during Hobbs' first season as defensive coordinator in yards per game, limiting teams to just 298.1 yards per outing.  Since joining the Eagles' staff, Hobbs has helped lead Husson to a 29-23 (.558) record, including an 17-12 (.586) mark in conference contests. During the 2023 season, Hobbs' defense led the Commonwealth Coast Conference in sacks (25), interceptions in conference games (7), total defense in conference play (339.2 YPG), total run defense (137.4 YPG), had the #3 scoring defense (19.6 PPG) and #3 overall scoring defense (23.6). Additionally, the Eagles had league leaders in tackles, sacks, tackles for loss, pass breakups, force fumbles and fumble recoveries.  During the 2022 season, Hobbs led the Husson defense to a ranking of 20th in the country with 16 interceptions on the season and the team also led the CCC with 12 interceptions in conference play. Additionally, Husson finished #3 in the Commonwealth Coast Conference in scoring defense (19.2 PPG), overall scoring defense (23.1 PPG) and had the nation's leading tackler, Tucker Buzzell with 134 tackles.  During the 2021 season, Hobb's defensive unit led the Commonwealth Coast Conference in both total defense and scoring defense.  The Eagles limited their CCC opponents to 19.2 points per game in 2022 under the direction of Hobbs and allowed just 23.1 points per game. Hobbs has developed numerous all-conference selections during his career - Frank Curran (2021), Tucker Buzzell (2021, 2022, 2023), David Redmond (2021), Kaleb Caron (2021), Antwan Turner (2021), Tyrek Mann (2022, 2023), Alex Brown (2022), Adam Bertrand (2023), Parker LaFrance (2023), Brayden Trombly (2024, 2025), Bryce Bussell (2024), Jahmye Tyson (2024, 2025), Kane Smith (2025), Ryan Banister (2025), JT Wright (2025) and James Boyd (2025).  Hobbs has directed one Conference Defensive Lineman of the Year honoree while with the Eagles - Frank Curran (2021). Hobbs has mentored one Commonwealth Coast Conference Defensive Player of the Year selection - Tucker Buzzell (2023). Hobbs has guided one Conference of New England Rookie of the Year winner - Brayden Trombly (2024). During the 2021 season, Hobbs coached a defensive unit that led the conference in scoring defense and total defensive.  While at Ottawa University, Hobbs helped maintain a stout defense that was ranked nationally in total defense year in and year out. Hobbs also helped lead Ottawa to a Kansas Collegiate Athletic Conference Championship in 2014. In 2019, Hobbs led the Dakota State University defense to 19 interceptions, which was good for second in the nation that year. Hobbs' defense set the single-game interception for Dakota State when they recorded six interceptions. Additionally, Hobbs completely turned around the Trojan defense that season, as he led them to a ranking of 38 nationally in total defense, compared to the team's ranking of 85th the previous year. While at Presentation College, Hobbs helped guide the Saints to the fourth best total defense in the nation in 2016. Jake Cameron '21

Jake Cameron was hired in 2022 as an assistant coach for the Husson University football program. In addition to serving as an assistant coach under head coach Nat Clark, Cameron also serves as the program's offensive line coach, after previously serving as the wide receivers coach.  CAREER AT A GLANCE: Since joining Coach Clark's staff in 2022, Cameron has helped the Eagles to a 22-20 (.524) overall record, including a 13-10 (.565) mark in conference games. Cameron guided the Eagles to a New England Bowl Game appearance in 2022 and a Fusion Bowl appearance in 2024. Cameron has developed numerous all-conference selections - Jon Bell (2022), Cullen Casey (2022 & 2023), Hayden Fielder (2023), John Dugan (2024) and Jade Hutchinson (2023, 2024). Cameron appeared in 43 games while at Husson, earning two-straight Eastern Collegiate Football Conference (ECFC) All-Conference First Team selections, one Commonwealth Coast Conference First Team selection, as well as a second team selection in 2021. In addition, Cameron was also named a freshman All-American in 2017 and was a three-year captain for the Eagles. Adding on to his stellar freshman campaign in 2017, Cameron was named to the Noontime Sports All-New England Team and also earned a spot on the All-ECAC Team. Off the field, Cameron earned CCC All-Academic Team honors in the fall of 2021 and was named to the National Football Foundation Hampshire Honor Society that same season. PERSONAL: A native of Conway, N.H. Earned his bachelor's degree in criminal justice in December of 2021 and a certificate UG in counter terrorism and security. Currently resides in Bangor, Maine.

Tucker Buzzell '24, '24G

Tucker Buzzell was hired in 2024 as an assistant coach for the Husson University football program. In addition to serving as an assistant coach under head coach Nat Clark, Buzzell also serves as the program’s safeties coach.  CAREER AT A GLANCE: Since joining the Husson coaching staff Buzzell has helped lead the team to a 10-11 (.476) overall record, including a 6-6 (.500) mark in Conference of New England games. Buzzell appeared in 39 games while at Husson, earning earning three-straight Commonwealth Coast Conference All-Conference First Team selections, along with two-straight New England Football Writers All-New England honors, two-straight d3football.com All-Region 1 First Team selections.  Buzzell was named the 2023 Commonwealth Coast Conference Defensive Player of the Year. Ed Mestieri

Ed Mestieri joined the Husson University football program as an assistant coach in 2015 and currently serves as the inside linebackers coach. CAREER AT A GLANCE: Since joining Husson in 2015, Mestieri has helped the Eagles to a 72-39 (.649) overall record, including a 47-16 (.746) mark in conference games, in addition to four-straight Eastern Collegiate Football Conference Championships from 2015-2018. Mestieri has helped the Eagles to a New England Bowl appearance in 2022 and a Fusion Bowl appearance in 2024. Mestieri has coached two Cliff Harris Award Finalists - Bryant Wade (2015) and Elvin Suazo (2018). Mestieri has guided three d3football.com All-Region selections - Elvin Suazo (2018) and Tucker Buzzell (2022, 2023). Mestieri has directed three New England Football Writers Association All-New England members - Elvin Suazo (2018) and Tucker Buzzell (2022, 2023). Prior to joining the Eagles coaching staff, Mestieri served as director of football operations and a defensive assistant for two seasons (2012-13) at the University of Maine, and the Black Bears claimed the CAA Championship in 2013 and a berth in the FCS playoffs, losing to long-time rival University of New Hampshire 41-27. A veteran coach with over 40 years of experience, Merstieri, also coached at Norwich University, Dartmouth College, Kent State University, and Colby College, where he had a stint as head coach. As the Mules head coach, Mestieri posted a 31-33 record, finishing as the runner-up in the NESCAC on two occasions. ATHLETIC CAREER: Mestieri was a four-year letterwinner on the Springfield College football team from 1972-75. PERSONAL: Mastieri earned a bachelor of science in physical education from Springfield in 1976 and a master of Athletic Administration from Norwich in 1977. A native of Wareham, Massachusetts, Mestieri attended Wareham High School and then Bridgton Academy. He and his wife, Becky, live in Fairfield, Maine with their two golden retrievers. The couple has three children: Michael, Lindsay, and Samantha; and three grandchildren.

Nate Quirion '07

Nate Quirion began his third stint on the Husson University football coaching staff in 2019. In addition to serving as an assistant coach under head coach Nat Clark, Quirion also serves as the program's running backs coach. He held the same position from 2007-08 and 2014-16. CAREER AT A GLANCE: In his ten years as a member of the coaching staff, Quirion has helped the Eagles win three Eastern Collegiate Football Conference Championships (2014, 2015, 2016), including two NCAA Division III Championship tournament appearances (2014, 2016) and four bowl game appearances (2008, 2015, 2022, 2024). At Husson, Quirion has helped the Eagles to a 70-42 (.625) overall record, including a 41-16 (.719) mark in conference games. Quirion has helped developed multiple all-conference honorees - John Smith (2014, 2015, 2016), Garrett Poussard (2021), Elijah Garnett (2023) and Jed Lober (2024). Quirion has coached one Eastern Collegiate Football Conference Rookie of the Year - John Smith (2014). Blue, he helped the Cougars to a Class B North quarterfinal berth in 2018. Orio helped guide the Eagles to a 29-12 overall record with three Eastern Collegiate Football Conference (ECFC) Championships in 2014, 2015, and 2016 and two berths to the NCAA Division III National Championship Tournament in 2014 and 2016, while helping the 2016 team set the program record for wins in a single-season with nine at the time. Was a three-time team captain for the Eagles. PERSONAL: A native of Stoneham, Mass. (Cony High School - Maine). Orio earned a bachelor of science in healthcare studies from Husson University in 2017. Currently resides in Bangor, Maine with his wife Alexis and son Titan.
