Hoffmann Head Diving Coach Twitter: RedbirdDive Phil Hoffmann begins his 10th season as the head diving coach of the Illinois State swimming and diving team with the 2016-17 season. Hoffmann has been named Missouri Valley Conference Diving Coach of the Year three times, following his divers performances at the MVC Championships in 2008-09, 2011-12 and 2012-13, respectively. Hoffmann helped Illinois State diver Wenting Zhang become the programs first All-American in 2014, and Zhang went on to repeat the feat in 2015. Zhang had previously earned MVC Diver of the Year and All-MVC First-Team honors. Since his first season at Illinois State, Hoffmanns divers have had outstanding finishes at the MVC Championships. Between the 1-meter and 3-meter diving competitions, five won the conference title and 32 finished in the top eight. In addition, former ISU diver Polly Hirt was named the Illinois State Linda Herman Scholar-Athlete of the Year in 2011. Hoffmann has also worked with Olympians Abby Johnston and Kelci Bryant, who won silver in the 2012 women's 3-meter synchronized diving competition in London.  Hoffmann is a 2007 graduate of Ohio State. While there, Hoffmann was an assistant with the U.S. Elite Diving Academy under former Illinois State coach Drew Johansen, where he assisted in coaching countless junior and senior national champions. He has also worked under former Olympic coaches Vince Panzano and Matt Scoggin. He has served as the head coach of the Redbird Diving Club since the beginning of the 2007-08 season. Hoffmann is a Bloomington-Normal native and a former Illinois State student assistant coach from 1999 to 2004.

Scott Cameron

Head Coach

Cameron Head Swimming Coach Twitter: Scott Cameron enters his second season as head coach of the Illinois State womens swimming team with the 2016-17 season. Cameron joined the Illinois State athletics department staff on June 1, 2015, after being named the programs head coach on April 21, 2015. In his first season at Illinois State in 2015-16, Cameron helped guide student-athletes who set six school records. Nine Illinois State swimmers and divers earned All-MVC recognition. Cameron came to Illinois State from the University of Idaho, where he had served as an assistant womens swimming coach since 2012. He had previously served in several capacities, assisting the University of Michigan mens and womens teams, between 2008 and 2012. At Idaho, Cameron served as an assistant coach with additional duties as the teams recruiting coordinator and academic coordinator. He handled all travel plans and developed a video program to evaluate student-athletes performances. Idaho improved its conference standing dramatically during Camerons tenure, as the team finished as high as second at the Western Athletic Conference (WAC) Championships in 2014. The team excelled in the classroom as well, consistently posting a team grade-point average well above 3.0. In his three years with the program, Idaho student-athletes set 26 school records and won 12 individual WAC titles. Ten student-athletes met NCAA B cuts and one qualified for the NCAA Swimming and Diving Championships. At Michigan, Cameron held roles that included volunteer assistant coach, manager of operations, video manager and camp counselor. He assisted with training, recruiting and managed a video program as a volunteer assistant coach for the womens program during the 2011-12 season. Cameron served as the manager of operations for the mens team in 2010-11, where he handled day-to-day and travel arrangements, while also managing equipment, deck operations and a team database. As the mens teams video manager from 2009 to 2011, Cameron created and developed a video program for his student athletes, while utilizing several software programs. Cameron also has coaching experience at the club level, with Club Wolverine, based in Ann Arbor, Michigan, from 2008 to 2012. He worked with swimmers of all ages at the club level, including Olympic athletes who competed for the United States, China, Trinidad and Tobago, Barbados, Ireland and Serbia. He served as head deck coach for Hillsdale Colleges Nike Swim Camps from 2009 to 2012, after spending time as a student assistant coach at his alma mater, Grand Valley State, during the 2008-09 season. Cameron was previously a member of the mens swimming and diving team at Grand Valley State. A native of Belleville, Michigan, Cameron earned his bachelors degree in 2009 from Grand Valley State, where he majored in movement science, with a concentration in coaching. He finished work on his master of education degree in 2014 at Idaho, with a focus in adult organizational learning and leadership.

Paige Conrad

Assistant Coach

Conrad Assistant Swimming Coach Twitter: Paige Conrad enters her second season as an assistant swimming coach at Illinois State with the 2016-17 season. Conrad brings a wealth of experience to the role, as a former Division I swimmer who competed at the University of Idaho, while Illinois State head swimming coach Scott Cameron was an assistant coach on the Idaho staff. Conrad later served as a student assistant at Idaho, before moving into an assistant coaching role at Lewis University in Romeoville, Illinois. Conrad joins the Illinois State swimming and diving coaching staff after spending the 2014-15 season as an assistant swimming coach for the Lewis mens and womens teams. Her responsibilities there included practice planning, strength and conditioning training, and video analysis. Conrad also managed the team budget and planned team travel, organized community service projects, and played a key role in recruiting. She served as a student assistant at Idaho in 2013-14 after her time competing as a member of the team. In that role, she was responsible for practice planning, implementing a video analysis program, and organizing recruiting efforts. Conrad also has experience in coaching at the youth level, having spent the past two summers as a camp coach and counselor at camps hosted by the University of Michigan. She worked with swimmers from a variety of age groups at the camps, with an emphasis in stroke technique using video analysis. Conrad also served as a stroke clinic coordinator and coach at the YMCA in her hometown of Fort Mill, South Carolina, in 2014. A standout student-athlete specializing in the 100- and 200-yard butterfly, 100-yard backstroke and 200-yard individual medley, Conrad was a four-time letterwinner and Western Athletic Conference academic scholar during her time competing at Idaho. She earned her bachelors degree in psychology in 2014.
