Head Coach
Mettert is entering his 10th season as the head mens and womens golf coach at Indiana Tech. While at Tech he has coached (women's): 16 WHAC First-Team All-Conference selections, 15 WHAC All-Academic Team members, 11 NAIA Scholar-Athletes, seven WHAC Honorable Mention All-Conference players, six NAIA All-Americans, six WHAC Golfers of the Week recipients, three CoSIDA Academic All-Americans, two WHAC Player of the Year winners (Wiebke Schlender, Courtney Dye), two WHAC Individual Medalist's, two NAIA All-Tournament First-Team honorees, two WHAC Newcomer of the Year and one NAIA National Golfer of the Week. and (men's): 16 WHAC All-Academic Team selections, nine NAIA Scholar-Athletes, eight WHAC Honorable Mention All-Conference recipients, six WHAC Golfer of the Week winners and five WHAC First-Team All-Conference honorees. Last year the Orange and Black continued to make history under Mettert as the women's team won its third consecutive WHAC regular season and tournament titles to earn their third straight trip to the NAIA National Championships, while on the men's side freshman Dathan Terry won Individual Medalist honors at the WHAC Tournament to become the first Tech men's golfer to qualify for the National Championships. The women would finish 11th at the NAIA National Championships, their second-best finish ever, while Terry placed in a tie for 36th individually. Wiebke Schlender would earn All-American honors for the third year in a row while earning medalist honors at the WHAC Tournament for the third consecutive year and taking home WHAC Player of the Year honors for the second time, while Courtney Dye picked up her second All-American plaque. Mettert would earn his fifth WHAC Coach of the Year plaque and third in a row for the women's program. In the 2014-15 campaign, Tech's women continued its dominance by repeating as WHAC regular season and tournament championships and would finish 17th at the NAIA National Championships while the men's team won the regular season title and hosted the conference tournament at Coyote Creek Golf Course in Fort Wayne. Mettert would be named Coach of the Year in the WHAC for the women's team for the fourth time. In the 2013-14 season the Warriors made history as Mettert guided the women to a WHAC regular season and tournament championship, earning a trip to Lincoln, Neb. to play in the NAIA National Championship. The team made the cut for the first time and finished ninth, the best finish in program history. Mettert earned his third Coach of the Year award while coaching Wiebke Schlender to Player and Newcomer of the Year honors as well as being named to the All-Tournament team. Mettert also saw his first three All-Americans in Schlender, Tamina Römer and Courtney Dye. In 2012-13 Mettert coached Megan Garrison to the WHAC Individual Championship, earning her a trip ro the NAIA National Tournament in Lincoln, Neb. In 2010-11, he guided the women's team back to the NAIA National Tournament following a WHAC Regular Season Championship and a Conference Tournament Championship while earning his second WHAC Coach of the Year honor. In his first two years at Tech, Mettert took the Warrior women from worst (2006-07) to first (2007-08) in the Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference while earning the Coach of Character award in 2007 and the Coach of the Year honor in 2008. The 2008 team earned a trip to the NAIA National Championship in Rapid City, S.D. for the first time in program history. The men's team has never finished lower than fifth in the WHAC in Mettert's 10 years, with one regular season conference championship in 2014 and a runner-up finish at the conference tournament in the spring of 2015. A native of New Haven, Indiana and a graduate of New Haven High School, Coach Mettert played varsity golf all the way through high school and college. Three years All-Conference in high school and two years All-Conference in college, Mettert was also the MVP at Tech for two years. Still holding many of the school records, he hopes to bring in recruits that can set their own records and get Indiana Tech to the National Tournament. Coach Mettert brings more than 30 years of coaching experience to the Warriors. He is still active in softball, bowling, and of course, golf. He still carries a seven handicap, so he can give the kids a challenge on the course. He and his wife own Custom Golf, a custom club and repair shop located at 2614 W. State Blvd, in Fort Wayne. It is the winter hangout for the golfers to practice when not in school. Coach Mettert has also been honored in his field of fitting golf clubs by being named to the Top 100 fitters in the world five times. Coach Mettert is a 1978 Indiana Tech graduate and lives in New Haven, Indiana with his wife of 32 years, Cathy, and has three kids: Tina (24), Kaitlyn (20), and Andrew (AJ) (18). Tina is a 2014 graduate of Indiana Tech, Kaitlyn will be entering her junior year while AJ will be a freshman this year. Tina currently works as a third grade teacher in Fort Wayne.

Mark Beneke
Head Coach
Head Coach Mark Beneke enters his second full season leading the Warrior golf programs heading into the 2024-25 season. Beneke took over as head coach at the beginning of the 2023 calendar year, halfway through the 2022-23 competitive golf season and led both the men’s and women’s programs through their 2022-23 spring seasons. In his first full season at the helm in 2023-24, Beneke would lead the Warriors to a fourth-place finish in the WHAC Championships on the men’s side and an 11th place finish on the women’s side. The men’s team would record two top three finishes during the season, while the women had one, winning the Alice Lloyd College Last Shot Invite in April. Wil Campbell and Spencer Keller would earn WHAC All-Conference Team honors, while five Warriors would make the WHAC All-Academic Team and three were NAIA Scholar-Athletes on the men’s side. On the women’s team, Andrea Aizpurua would earn WHAC All-Conference Team honors, while three Warriors would make the WHAC All-Academic Team and three were NAIA Scholar-Athletes. During the 2023 spring season, Beneke helped the women’s team to five top three finishes, including winning the Alice Lloyd Invitational and the Lourdes Spring Invitational. Beneke also helped manage the women’s team to a second-place finish at the WHAC Championships in April. On the men’s side, he helped the Warriors take four top three finishes during the spring season and a sixth-place finish at the WHAC Championships. On the women’s side, Beneke would coach three Warriors to WHAC All-Conference team selections, while three Warriors were also named to the WHAC All-Academic Team and NAIA Scholar Athletes. For the men, Spencer Keller would earn a spot on the WHAC All-Conference teams, while three Warriors were named to the WHAC All-Academic Team and two were named as NAIA Scholar Athletes.

Jessica Steward
Assistant Coach
Jessica Steward enters her third year with the Indiana Tech Department of Athletics for the 2025-26 school year. She enters year one as the Associate Director for Compliance and Academic Success/Senior Woman Leader after two years as the Assistant Director of Athletics for Academic Success/Senior Woman Leader. She also is in year three as the assistant men's and women's golf coach for the 2025-26 season. Jessica returned to Fort Wayne in 2023, where she began her coaching career at Purdue Fort Wayne in 2008. She had previously spent the last fifteen years as a Head Women’s Golf Coach at the NCAA Division I level, most recently at Georgia State University from 2019 – 2023, and at Lamar University from 2015-2019. Jessica oversees the academic success, retention, and graduation for Indiana Tech's 900-plus student-athletes and 29 sports programs, working closely with the Office of Student Success and serving as a connection point between the Department of Athletics and various other campus departments. She oversees the completion of study table hours, connects student-athletes with academic resources, monitors overall academic performance, evaluates degree reports, and counsels student-athletes individually. During her time as head coach, Jessica continuously led programs to record-setting seasons. During her last season of competition during the 2022-2023 school year, her team at Georgia State set the program’s 54-hole scoring record, twice. Ari Acuff broke the record for individual 54-hole tournament total at 8-under par. Her squad also earned the lowest season team stroke average in program history, and secured GSU’s first team tournament title in over 10 years. At Lamar University, she led her 2015 team to the Southland Conference Championship tournament title and was named Southland Conference Women’s Golf Coach of the Year. Steward, a native of Mystic, CT, earned a bachelor’s degree in Sport Administration the University of Miami in 2008, where she was captain of the women’s golf team and ranked individually as high as 33rd in the nation, according to Golfstat. She completed a master’s degree in Higher Education Administration from the University of Saint Francis in 2016 and holds an LPGA Class A teaching certification. Jessica lives in Fort Wayne with her wife, Chelsea.
