Mike Fruchey
Assistant Coach
Fruchey is in his 16 th season as Head Women's Cross Country Coach at Fort Wayne . During his tenure, the women's cross country team has shown great improvement and consistency. In eight years as a member of the Summit League, the team has one championship (2007) and one runners-up (2008) finish. Individually, Coach Fruchey has tutored one NCAA Cross Country Championship Qualifier (2008), three NCAA All-Regional Performances, one Summit League Cross Country Champion and six Summit League All-Conference Performers. Academically, the womens cross country team has achieved USTFCCCA Division I All-Academic Team status for 14 consecutive years. Prior to coaching at Fort Wayne , Fruchey had spent three years as a volunteer coach at Taylor University and three years as a volunteer coach at Carroll High School. Coach Fruchey holds a Masters degree in Physics from Ball State University and a Bachelors degree in Physics from Taylor University. In 2014, he graduated from the elite IAAF/USATF Endurance Academy with distinction, earning both the IAAF Level V and USATF Level III coaching certifications. Tanisha Johnson
Assistant Coach
Johnson enters her first season as Assistant Track Coach at Fort Wayne . She is responsible for the sprints, hurdles, and jumps. Prior to coaching at Fort Wayne , Johnson spent the 2010-2011 season as a Volunteer Assistant Coach at her alma mater, Central Michigan University. While there, she assisted with the jumps, pole vault, and multi-event athletes. Most recently, while attending school for her Masters degree, she spent two years as a sports performance trainer and was a pole vault coach at Bloomington North High School (Bloomington, Ind.) where she coached three state meet qualifiers. Johnson began her collegiate track career at Grand Valley State University where she lettered for two years and received All-GLIAC honors. She then transferred to CMU where she competed as a heptathlete, high jumper, long jumper, and triple jumper. Johnson lettered for two years, was a multiple time MAC Championship meet scorer, and earned All-MAC honors. Johnson is a USTFCCCA certified coach. She holds a Bachelors degree in Construction Management from CMU and a Masters degree in Kinesiology from Indiana University. A Michigan native, Johnson attended Dakota High School in Macomb, Mich., graduating in 2006.
