Head Coach

Brown has been named the National Cross Country Coach of the Year eight times, in 2005, 2014 and 2015 for his mens team and again in 2007, 2008, 2011, 2012 and 2013 for his womens team. In 2010 and 2014 Brown was named the NJCAA Mens Indoor Track and Field Assistant Coach of the Year, in 2011 and 2014 he was named the NJCAA Mens Outdoor Track and Field Assistant Coach of the Year, and in 2012 he was named the NJCAA Womens Indoor Track and Field Assistant Coach of the Year. Brown has been named the Region XI Mens Cross Country Coach of the Year eight times (2005, 07, 08, 09, 10, 13, 14, 15) and the Region XI Womens Cross Country Coach of the Year ten times (2006, 07, 08, 09, 10, 11, 12, 13, 14, 15). He has served two terms as the secretary for the NJCAA Track and Field Coaches Association (2007-2012). Over the past twelve years, thirty five men and thirty three women have earned NJCAA All-America status in cross country or the half marathon. Four men have also been crowned individual National Champions at the Half-Marathon Classic; Stephen Dak in 2007, Joshua Sawe in 2008, Stanley Kebenei in 2011 and 2012 and Tahir Chakisso in 2013. Two women have been crowned the National Cross Country Champion, Hannah Maina in 2013 and Leanne Pompeani in 2015.  Pompeani was also crowned the 2015 Half-Marathon Classic Champion. The womens team has earned the distinction of NJCAA Academic Team of the Year 10 times while men have achieved that honor 4 times.  An Academic Team of the Year must have an accumulative grade point average over 3.00 for the entire eligible team. In 2006, the womens cross country team finished with the highest GPA in the Nation, 3.64, among all womens cross country teams in the NJCAA. Prior to coaching at Iowa Central, Brown was an Instructor of Management Information Systems (MIS) at Luther College and an assistant Cross Country and Track and Field coach for two years. Brown had worked as an assistant coach at the collegiate level for five years working primarily with distance runners and as a high school head coach at Springfield Cathedral (MA) for two years working with sprints, hurdles, jumps and throws. In addition to his coaching duties, Brown is an adjunct instructor and teaches Introduction to Computers. Brown competed in Cross Country and Track and Field while at Luther College in Decorah, IA. His primary events were the steeplechase, 5 kilometers and 10 kilometers. He has also completed three marathons. Brown earned a BA degree in Computer Science and Business Administration with a minor in Mathematics from Luther College and a Masters of Science degree in Physical Education from Springfield College in Springfield, MA. Brown is IAAF Level 5 and USATF Level III certified in Endurance events. He is also on the staff of the Luther College Distance Running Camp held in Decorah, IA each summer.   After graduation, he worked as an admissions counselor and assisted with the cross country and track and field teams at Midland University for two years before his move to Iowa Central.  In addition to his position as an assistant cross country and track and field coach, he also works in the admissions office. Feine is USATF Level I certified.

Jeremiah Feine

Assistant Coach

Feine enters his fourth season at his alma mater. His primary duties include designing and implementing the strength and conditioning program for all cross country and track distance runners as well as monitoring academic progress and advising. Feine also trains alongside the athletes throughout the year. Most notably, he trained with Leanne Pompeani, the Australia native who was crowned the 2015 NJCAA Cross Country National Champion, 2015 NJCAA Half Marathon National Champion, 2016 NJCAA Indoor 3k & 5k National Champion and the 2016 NJCAA Outdoor 5k & 10k National Champion. Pompeani was also named the USTFCCCA Athlete of the Year for Cross Country, Indoor Track and Outdoor Track. Feine competed in cross country and track and field for the Tritons from 2006-2008 where he was an All-ICCAC performer in cross country his sophomore year as well as a national qualifier in the 10,000-meters during the outdoor track and field season. After that he attended Dana College in Blair, Neb., where he was a two-time national qualifier in the NAIA Marathon and earned all-conference honors in the 10,000-meters his junior year.
