Trevor Kruse

Trevor Kruse returns to Iowa Lakes Community College as a member of the Lakers wrestling staff, bringing collegiate wrestling experience and a strong connection to the program. A native of Lone Rock, Iowa, and graduate of North Union High School, Kruse was a four-time wrestling letterwinner, conference placewinner, two-time district qualifier, and state qualifier. He began his collegiate career at Iowa Lakes, where he qualified for the NJCAA National Championships. Kruse later continued his wrestling career at Buena Vista University, where he earned a letter and was recognized with the Scholar Athlete Award and the Beaver Fortitude Award. As a member of the Iowa Lakes coaching staff, Kruse will focus on strength and conditioning while assisting with wrestling practices and athlete development. His experience as a former Laker and collegiate wrestler provides valuable perspective as he works to help Iowa Lakes student-athletes become stronger, more confident, and better prepared to compete at the collegiate level.

Julian Long

Assistant Coach

Julian Long brings a strong background in wrestling development and collegiate athletics to the Iowa Lakes wrestling program. He joins the Lakers after gaining valuable coaching and operations experience at multiple levels of the sport. Most recently, Long served as a wrestling coach at the Nebraska Wrestling Training Center in Lincoln, Nebraska, where he worked with K–12 athletes on wrestling fundamentals, technique, physical development, teamwork, and sportsmanship. He also assisted Division I coaches, gaining experience working with athletes across a range of ages and skill levels. From 2025–26, Long served as a wrestling intern at the University of Nebraska–Lincoln, where he worked in a Big Ten environment and gained firsthand experience with collegiate wrestling operations, practice planning, athlete development, clinics, and open practices. His time with the Nebraska program provided an opportunity to observe and learn from a Division I coaching staff and experience the daily demands of a high-level collegiate program. Prior to his time at Nebraska, Long completed a coaching practicum at Nebraska Wesleyan University, where he provided individual wrestling instruction and worked with high school athletes to develop technique and fundamentals. He was also a member of the Nebraska Wesleyan University collegiate wrestling program. In addition to his coaching experience, Long has extensive experience working at collegiate athletic events and has served as a wrestling tournament director, managing tournament operations, coaches' meetings, TrackWrestling, officials, and event logistics. Long's combination of wrestling experience, coaching development, and exposure to high-level collegiate programs provides valuable experience to the Iowa Lakes wrestling program. He is passionate about helping student-athletes improve on the mat while developing the habits, confidence, and discipline needed to succeed beyond wrestling.
