Mindy McCord
Head Coach
McCord is in her seventh season as the Jacksonville women's lacrosse head coach and has compiled a record of 81-35 in her first six years with the Dolphins. Overall, this is her 27th season as a coach at the high school or collegiate level. As the first-ever coach for the women's lacrosse program, McCord has quickly led the Dolphins to five consecutive conference championships, spanning both the Atlantic Sun and National Lacrosse Conference, and three NCAA playoff appearances. Under her direction, the Dolphins have earned 15 NCAA statistical championships and one individual statistical title (Rachel Hannon, Draw Control). JU has set the standard for offensive success over McCords tenure, leading the nation in scoring for four successive years, the latest in 2014, while finishing second in the 2015 season with an average of 15.5 goals per game. In its best season yet, Jacksonville recorded a program-high 17 wins in 2015 to secure its third consecutive A-Sun championship. The Dolphins exited the NCAA Tournament in the opening round, falling 13-8 against Massachusetts, but left on a high note. The campaign ended with a program-best 11-game winning streak, and set a new single season best in points (467) and assists (156). The defense also surrendered a program-low 146 goals. It marked the first time the Dolphins earned a statistical championship in assists while also finishing first in scoring margin and ground balls. The Dolphins were crowned Atlantic Sun champions in 2014 after trumping Detroit, 18-4, in the title game. Lauded for their offensive and defensive prowess, over the course of the season the Dolphins earned 11 A-Sun Player of the Week honors, 10 All-Atlantic honorees including Player of the Year (Morgan Derner) and Defensive Player of the Year (Britt Orashen), and three Academic All-Conference recipients including Scholar-Athlete of the Year (Ali Hoffman). The program continued to receive national attention as it brought NCAA statistical titles in scoring (15.4 per game) and ground balls (24.25) back to the First Coast and closed the season with the Intercollegiate Women's Lacrosse Coaches Association (IWLCA) honoring the team and four student-athletes for academic achievements. Collectively, JUs grade point average earned the team a spot on the Division I Academic Honor Squad while former Fins Alexandra Hoffman (Finance) and Kaitlin Stewart (Computer Art and Graphic Design) joined rising seniors Tori Seitz (Accounting) and Holly Ventimiglia (Physical Education) on the Academic Honor Roll. Directing the Dolphins to a 13-6 record in the 2013 campaign, the team was ranked first in the NCAA in scoring (15.86 goals per game), caused turnovers (11+ per game) and ground balls (25+ per game). To top off her amazing 2013 season, Coach McCord was named Atlantic Sun Coach of the Year and was also selected to coach the IWLCA Division I Senior All Star Game as the coach of the South team. Twelve players earned individual all-conference awards at the conclusion of the season. Coach McCords team also proved to be scholar athletes with a combined team GPA of 3.47 which was the second highest team average in Div. 1 womens lacrosse. Her squad earned the IWLCA's highest academic recognition in 2013 and has posted a remarkable team GPA higher than 3.3 since 2011. In their third year, McCord guided the Dolphins to the title in 2012 as JU won the conference tournament on top of a 6-1 NLC record. The Dolphins beat rival High Point 19-6 in the final capping a season-ending run that saw the team give up a paltry 5.5 goals per game in the last eight contests while winning eight of their last nine. Coach McCord landed her 100th career victory in the 20-10 win over Louisville on March 12, 2012. On top of winning the NLC title, 2012 saw the Dolphins lead the country in scoring (18.6 goals per game) for the second consecutive year and defender Rachel Hannon set the NCAA all-time record for draw controls in a season (131). In just their second year, McCord guided the Dolphins to a regular season NLC championship in 2011, posting a 7-0 record in league play and a 14-5 overall mark. The Dolphins also won two NLC Tournament contests, advancing to the conference championship game against High Point. JU led all Division I teams in scoring average, posting 308 goals in 19 games for a 16.21 goals-per-game average. McCords team joined Stanford, Maryland and national-champion Northwestern as one of just four programs to crack the 300-goal mark. The Dolphins also thrived in the classroom, recording a collective 3.34 grade-point-average. In 2010, McCord's team finished first nationally in ground balls in finishing its inaugural campaign 7-11. That season also included the first victory in JU history when the Dolphins beat Detroit-Mercy, 15-13. In building a program from scratch, McCord earned co-NLC "Coach of the Year" honors after JU advanced to the semifinals of the conference tournament. As a women's lacrosse and field hockey coach, McCord has accumulated 224 wins in two sports at all levels. Her teams have earned either first-place championships or runner-up status 10 times during her 21 seasons as a head coach. McCord has recruited and developed 11 All-Americans, 23 regional All-Americans, and four conference players of the year. McCords coaching career began while studying for her masters in Counselor Education at Virginia Tech. While attending the school, she coached the womens lacrosse club team for two years, helping them to earn Division I status in the ACC. Her full-time coaching career began as a 23-year old head coach at prestigious Oberlin College in Ohio. As one of the NCAAs youngest head coaches, she hit the ground running winning consecutive lacrosse conference titles in 1997 and 1998. During the 1997 season, her squad boasted an undefeated conference record (11-0), leading to North Coast Athletic Conference Coach of the Year honors. The two titles were the only two championships won by any program at Oberlin College during her four-year tenure. She continued her career at McDaniel College as head field hockey and lacrosse coach. While in her hometown (Westminster, Md.), McCord won the schools first and only conference title in field hockey, where she is the all-time winningest coach (61) and has the schools best winning percentage (.640). For her efforts during the 2002 season, McCord was named Centennial Conference Coach of the year in field hockey. She rebuilt the lacrosse program at McDaniel, helping the program to a 10-6 record in 2002 and establishing recruiting in-roads that have led to McDaniel becoming a consistent top-25 program. McCord moved to the First Coast in 2004 and immediately began spreading her joy of lacrosse in the community by building and consulting with youth leagues, high school programs and officials groups. She took over a fledgling program at Nease High School in 2006. The program had won only 3 games in their first 3 seasons combined, but in her first season at the helm, Nease won 4 games and climbed to a top-20 ranking in the State of Florida. Nease went on to win consecutive district titles, and back-to-back #8 rankings in Florida in '07 and '08. During the 2008 season, Nease finished with a record of 13-5 and a ranking of #16 in the southern United States. During her final season at Nease, McCord earned her 100th win as a lacrosse coach (102-73). For her efforts at Nease, Mindy was named by her peers as US Lacrosse-Orlandos Coach of the Year. McCord co-founded with her husband a national travel lacrosse club called the Lax Maniax Elite. This club has helped more than 80 young women from Florida go on to play lacrosse in college and has boasted 22 high school all-Americans. The program won the 2007 and 2008 Southeastern Lacrosse championship and is recognized as the leading national club in the south. As a player, McCord has national and international playing experience. She was a four-year starter at Lynchburg (VA) College; earning rookie of the year, team captain, all conference, regional All-American, and North/South Senior All Star game honors. Coach McCord also played while studying abroad in Australia. McCord was born in Westminster, Md., and attended Westminster High School where she played field hockey, lacrosse, and ran track, earning honors in all three sports. In her senior year, she founded and implemented the first lacrosse club in Carroll County, Md., for middle and high school girls. Her husband Paul, is the associate head coach at JU. Their daughter Taylor, is a fifth-year senior on the lacrosse team at Jacksonville and the couple welcomed a son, Lytton, in 2015. The family lives in Neptune Beach, Fla.

Finished the season 12-8 and 6-1 in ASUN play. Defeated Liberty and Coastal Carolina en route to an ASUN title. Fell to Florida in the first round of the NCAA Tournament. Earned signature non-conference wins over Stanford, Arizona State and Penn. Had eight players named to either first or second-team All-ASUN. Had two players named to the ASUN All-Freshman team. Jacksonville University Athletics announced the hiring of Singleton as the new head coach of the women's lacrosse program on June 27, 2022. Singleton came to JU from Johns Hopkins, where she served as defensive coordinator and director of recruiting since 2011 and was the Associate Head Coach for the past 10 years. "We are ecstatic to welcome Tara to Jacksonville. When we set out on this search, we were looking for someone who would value the whole person. It was clear from our first conversation that Tara was going to care deeply about our young women," said Senior Vice President/Athletic Director Alex Ricker-Gilbert. "She's played and coached at the highest level and has spent more than a decade in one of the finest women's lacrosse cultures in the country." "Jacksonville University women's lacrosse will continue to ascend under Coach Singleton's leadership." She took over as just the second head coach in the history of the women's lacrosse program at JU, signing a five-year contract to lead the Dolphins, her first full-time head coach opportunity after years of establishing herself as one of the top assistant coaches in the country. "I am thrilled to have the opportunity to lead the women's lacrosse program and join the JU family," Singleton said. "I would like to thank President Cost, Alex Ricker-Gilbert and every member of the search committee for trusting in my vision to continue the success of the program going forward. "Jacksonville is an impressive university with even more impressive people and I can't wait to be a part of it all!" Not long after arriving at JHU, her reputation attracted suitors at a multitude of programs, leading to her promotion to Associate Head Coach. Her longtime boss and recently retired all-time winningest coach in JHU history, Janine Tucker, recalled how hard they worked to keep her with the Blue Jays. She said she knew early on that she was going to be a phenomenal head coach because of how she both coaches up and cares for players, seeing beyond the Xs and Os. "I am thrilled for Coach Tara and JU lacrosse! They just hired a first-class coach, person and a role model who is passionate about her players and the game," said Tucker. "I can't stop smiling thinking about how lucky those players are." "I believe Tara will continue to build on what Coach Mindy [McCord] established and is a perfect next step for the program." Her impact on the players on- and off-the-field was integral to the extensive success of the Blue Jays during her time there, which spanned over a decade. Her defenses were nationally recognized, finishing in the top-30 in the country in scoring defense five times, and were 31st in the nation this past season. They led the Big Ten each of the last two seasons in caused turnovers, and were top-20 nationally both years. Since joining the Big Ten in 2017, the team was top-two in the league in scoring defense every season. Fourteen players went on to earn First Team All-Big Ten honors, with two players from the 2021 team named All-Americans and the Big Ten Goaltender of the Year that year as well. The defensive prowess started before the Big Ten move, with the team finishing eighth in the nation in scoring defense, seventh in save percentage and 25th in caused turnovers in 2015, leading the American Lacrosse Conference in defense in 2014 and 2015. She started her coaching career at her alma mater, Loyola, spending one year there before moving on to UMBC. She oversaw the defense of the Retrievers for two years, and served briefly as the interim coach in spring of 2006. After that, she took an assistant coaching job with Denver, where she spent three seasons helping the Pioneers establish themselves as one of the winningest programs in the country. They compiled 36 victories from 2008-10, advancing to the Mountain Pacific Sports Federation championship game twice. The Baltimore native excelled as a player at Loyola, where she was a four-year letterwinner, starting her final two seasons and serving as a captain as a senior, when she was named a Second Team All-American. She helped lead the Greyhounds to four consecutive NCAA Tournament appearance, advancing to the Final Four twice. She led the team in caused turnovers her junior year, as part of the nation's top-ranked defense, and was one of the national leaders again in CT as a senior. She was a member of the US National Developmental Team from 2003-05, was a World Cup Team candidate and a member of the US National Elite Team from 2007-08.

Haley Warden
Associate Head Coach
Haley Warden serves as the associate head coach for Jacksonville University women's lacrosse, where she leads as the offensive coordinator and draw teams coach as well as the program's recruiting coordinator. In her debut season, the Dolphins boasted one of the best draw control units in the country. Jacksonville ranked fourth nationally in draw percentage and sixth in the country in draw controls per game. Junior midfielder Abby Moran smashed every single-game and single-season draw control record in school history en route to honorable mention All-American honors. Jacksonville finished the season 6-0 in ASUN play in Warden's first season on staff, clinching a second-consecutive regular season championship. The Dolphins averaged 13.33 goals per game, while attackers Ainsley Scruggs, Maeve Brennan and Shae Hagans all earned All-ASUN honors. Prior to JU, she served as an assistant coach and offensive coordinator at Arizona State University. Warden significantly contributed to the team’s impressive performance and player development. Under her leadership, the team achieved the top ranking in the Pac-12 for draws and draw controls per game and secured the 2nd spot for goals per game average in 2024. Nationally, the team was ranked 8th in draw controls per game and 27th in scoring offense, even while competing against 10 top-20 opponents. Additionally, they attained a draw control percentage of 58.1%, placing them 18th nationally. Warden’s dedication to player development was reflected in several key accomplishments. She mentored a player to First Team All Pac-12 honors and coached the Pac-12’s Attacking Freshman of the Year in 2023. In 2024, her guidance led to two players ranking in the top 5 for goals and points in the Pac-12, earning Second Team All Pac-12 selections. Remarkably, she also helped two attackers earn spots on the IWLCA Senior All-Star Team in both 2023 and 2024—an unprecedented achievement for the program. Warden developed the all-time leader in draw controls at ASU, enhancing her performance to a national ranking of 8th with 8.79 draws per game and a total of 330 draws over three years. Over the course of a brilliant four-year run with the James Madison Dukes, Warden established herself as one of the best to ever wear the purple and gold. She capped her playing career in the ultimate fashion, captaining the 2018 team to the NCAA Championship, the first in program history. Warden was named the Most Outstanding Player of the National Championship Game after delivering a four-goal performance in a 16-15 win over Boston College. During her three years as part of the coaching staff at James Madison, she assisted in all areas of the women's lacrosse program, including recruiting, coaching, and developing student-athletes. She specifically worked with the draw takers and offensive personnel in skill development, game planning, and overall team concepts. "I have a tremendous amount of respect for Coach Shelley Klaes and am forever grateful for all that she has done for me," Warden said. "James Madison Lacrosse will always hold a special in my heart." Throughout her three-year stint as the offensive coordinator, James Madison maintained the standard set by Warden and the 2018 National Championship team. The Dukes compiled a 31-11 record during that time, appearing and securing victories in the past two NCAA Tournaments. One of the biggest wins in program history came in 2021, with James Madison picking up a monumental victory over No. 3 Maryland on the road. Warden's offense and draw control unit were extremely effective in the 13-8 win, just the fourth victory by the Dukes in the 46-game history of the rivalry. James Madison won the 2021 CAA Tournament Championship, becoming the first team in conference history to win four-straight titles, with Warden patrolling the sidelines as a coach after winning three of the titles as a player. A member of the James Madison Staff, All-American honors were earned eight times during Warden's tenure, highlighted 2022 Tewaaraton Nominee Isabella Peterson and fellow 2022 All-Americans Mairead Durkin and Molly Dougherty. The Dukes were consistently one of the top teams in the CAA in both draw controls and scoring over the past three seasons. In 2020, Warden's draw control unit thrived, finishing ninth nationally in draw control percentage. Warden was selected as an alternate for Team USA, serving as a member of the training team ahead of the 2022 Women's Lacrosse World Championships. Team USA won the Gold Medal, defeating Team Canada to become the first country to win on home turf. She was also an alternate for the USA Women's Box Lacrosse team. Before she was representing her country, Warden was a two-time All-American at James Madison. She finished her four-year career with 245 draw controls, which is still a program record. Warden is also second all-time at JMU in career (119) and single season (47) caused turnovers. She was named the 2017 CAA Player of the Year and followed that up by being selected as the 2018 CAA Co-Defensive Player of the Year. While her defense was a focus, she was equally as effective on the offense end, emerging as one of the nation's best two-way players. During an incredible senior season in 2018, Warden was a Tewaaraton Top-25 Nominee after putting up insane numbers. She finished with 46 goals and 11 assists (57 points) while adding 46 ground balls, 45 caused turnovers, and 108 draw controls. Warden cemented herself as one of the all-time greats at James Madison during the 2018 National Championship run, delivering one of the most unforgettable performances in recent memory. In helping the Dukes take down No. 2 North Carolina in the NCAA Semifinals, Warden scored five goals while also collecting ten draw controls. She wasn't done coming through in the clutch, putting together a four-goal performance two days later to lead James Madison to the 2018 NCAA Title. Her goal with 1:05 left proved to be the difference in the 16-15 victory, leading to her being named the Most Outstanding Player. She received her B.B.A in Computer Information Systems from James Madison in 2018 and immediately pursued a professional career. Warden was drafted by the WPLL Pride, competing in the inaugural season for the league in 2018. Her most recent playing experience came with Athletes Unlimited, where she played for four seasons. She finished as a Top 20 player in league history, littering the record book with impacts all over the field.
