Jason Challeen
Associate Head Coach
Challeen serves as the Jimmies offensive coordinator and coaches the offensive line. He also serves as the team's academic coordinator and recruits North Dakota, Minnesota and Arizona. He returned to UJ in 2015 after serving as offensive coordinator at Mount Ida in Newton, Mass. Challeen was previously the offensive coordinator at Castleton State in Castleton, Vermont. Before his time at Castleton, Challeen was the Assistant Head Coach, Special Teams Coordinator, and Recruiting Coordinator for the past two season at the University of Mary. Challeen has also served on the staffs at St. Cloud State, MN (01), Southwestern College, KS (02-03), University of Minnesota Duluth, MN (2004) and Mesabi Range, MN (05-06). Challeen's first stop at UJ was in 2007-08 under coach Bud Etzold. Challeen has helped guide four teams to post season appearances and four conference championships. In his previous stops, Challeen has held a variety of duties including Assistant Head Football Coach, Recruiting Coordinator, Special Teams Coordinator, Academic Coordinator, and Instructor in the Physical Education Department. Challeen and his wife, Cheryl, are parents of a daughter Gracelin and son Hunter. Littlejohn will serve as a defensive assistant for the Jimmies. Littlejohn was a star linebacker for North Dakota State from 2011-14. A Minneapolis native, Littlejohn played in 59 of 61 possible games and made 43 starts as part of four straight Missouri Valley Football Conference and NCAA Division I FCS national championship teams. He finished fourth in NDSU career history with 345 total tackles and third with 155 solo tackles. Littlejohn was a first team All-Missouri Valley pick his senior season. During his four years as a player, the Bison posted a combined record of 58-3. Shirek will serve as a defensive line coach and strength and conditioning coach for the Jimmies. He will also recruit the state of Wisconsin. Shirek has been a member of the North Dakota State strength and conditioning staff for three years. He also served as a strength and conditioning intern at the University of Montana for one year and a performance specialist intern at EXOS Athletes Performance Institute in Phoenix. He received his undergraduate degree from the University of Wisconsin Oshkosh and his master's degree from North Dakota State. Leon La Deaux is in his second year as a graduate assistant coach at the University of Jamestown. La Deaux coaches the Jimmies wide receivers and special teams. La Deaux is a 2010 graduate of South Kitsap High School (WA). He attended Central Washington University for two years starting at Wide Receiver both seasons before transferring to Minot State University where he played his final two seasons starting at Wide Receiver and Kick Returner for the Beavers. In his two seasons at Minot State Coach La Deaux amassed 102 receptions for 1,340 yards and recorded 2,206 all-purpose yards. He graduated from Minot State in May of 2015 with a BA in Broadcasting and is currently working on his MS in Leadership. Coach La Deaux will work with the Wide Receivers and Kick/Punt Returners this season.
