John Carroll University Men's Basketball

Moran begins his fifth season as an assistant coach for the John Carroll men's basketball team in 2016-17. Son of JCU head coach Mike Moran, he joined the Blue Streaks' coaching staff after serving as the head coach of Berkshire High School from 2008-11. Among his high school coaching accolades are Chagrin Valley Conference (CVC) Coach of the Year (2009, 2010, 2011), Division III District Coach of the Year (2009, 2011), and News Herald Coach of the Year (2010).  He won three conference championships and led the Badgers to the Ohio Division III District Championship in 2010 and 2011. Moran is a 2007 graduate of John Carroll, where he earned a Bachelor's degree in Exercise Science and was a four-year starter and three-time All-OAC point guard for the Blue Streaks.  During his tenure as a player, JCU won three OAC regular season championships and participated in three NCAA Tournaments, including the 2004 NCAA Division III "Final Four." The third place finish in 2004 is the best in program history. Moran also helped lead the Blue & Gold to the Division III "Sweet 16" in 2005 and 2007. In 2016, Moran earned his Masters in Physical Education, Health and Recreation from Emporia State University. He is married to Christina (Saluan) Moran, Ph.D, is a 2007 graduate of John Carroll where she earned her Bachelors degree in Psychology and a minor in Spanish. The couple has two sons, Thomas and Ernest. Moran is a physical education and health teacher at Lake Catholic High School and is in his sixth year as the boys' golf coach.
