Assistant Coach

Graham as the new head men's and women's cross country and track and field coach. Graham also serves as the Irwin Belk Complex stadium manager. Coach Graham brought to the university 14 years of international coaching experience at the junior and senior level in Jamaica, which resulted in six national high school championship titles at Kingston College (High School) in Kingston, Jamaica. He has coached many individual/relay champions at the Jamaican high school, Caribbean Free Trade Association (CARIFTA), Central American and Caribbean (CAC), North American Central American and Caribbean (NACAC) championships, Penn Relays, and Pan American Junior Championships levels. Since leading the Golden Bulls track and field program at Johnson C. Smith University, Coach Graham has added medalists, all-conference, all-region, and/or All-Americans at the CIAA, NACAC, Junior Pan-American Championships, Penn Relays, National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA), World University Games, and the IAAF World Championships in Athletics levels. In 8 seasons his athletes have achieved 164 All American awards.  At the 2015  World Championships in Beijing, China  coach Graham coached two siblings to the 100m hurdle final a first for female siblings in the history of the Championships.  His athlete Danielle Williams won the event in 12.58 seconds  with her sister Shermaine Williams placing 7th in 12.91 seconds. Graham is a 1984 graduate of Alabama State University, where he earned a bachelor's degree in Business Administration majoring in Computer Information Systems.  He earned his Masters in Business Administration from The University of New Orleans in 2006. He is currently a certified IAAF Level 5 Elite coach specializing in sprints and hurdles. As a student-athlete at Alabama State University, Graham competed as a sprinter/hurdler for the ASU hornets from 1984 to 1987. He was the top sprint/hurdler all four years. He earned the Most Academic (1985-87), Most Outstanding Hurdler (1984-85), and the Most Valuable Runner (1986-87) awards while competing for the Hornets. He also garnered the George Hubert Lockhart Award for overall excellence in sports across varsity sports at ASU (1987). Tramaine Ellison

Ellison is an USATF level III and IAAF level V elite jumps coach and recently completed her third season as Assistant Track and Field Coach at Johnson C. Smith University. In her first year, she coached Horane Holgate to a 2nd place CIAA finish outdoors and 3 rd indoors in mens triple jump. She followed that up by coaching All-American freshman Michane Ricketts to 2 nd place CIAA finish outdoors, 6 th place at NCAA Outdoor Championship and new school record (7.49) mens long jump and most recently helped LaTondra Morrow to a school record 1.71 to win the 2016 CIAA Outdoor Champion womens high jump., while was also an NCAA provisional qualifier. Michane Ricketts also captureed third place in the CIAA indoor championships with a school record 7.21 in the mens long jump. She has also coached locally at the high school level from 2007-2012, most recently at Ardrey Kell High School. During her time with the Knights, they advanced four relays to NCHSAA State Championships. Standing school record girls 4x400 (3:55). Independence High School- NCHSAA 4A 3 rd place finish and Three-time Southwestern 4A Conference Champion, boys triple jump Austin Duke. Southwestern 4A Conference Champion, boys 200m Adrian Gamble (21.80). In addition to her coaching duties, she will serve as a site Coordinator for 2016 USATF Paralympics Trials and has seved as an assistant meet director for the 2013 North Carolina PowerAde State Games. The USTFCCCA has awarded her an assistant coaches scholarship and was selected as one of three American delegates from USATF to attend the NACAC Congress in Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic A graduate of Temple University in Philadelphia, she earned a Bachelor of Science in Kinesiology and has also proudly served in the U.S. Air Force as a reservist.  She is also a licensed neuromuscular massage therapist.
