Matt Goldbeck
Head Coach
Goldbeck is also in his 16th year as Manager of Athletic Facilities in charge of concessions, scheduling and setting up of facilities. A 1989 graduate of Washington High School, Goldbeck played two years of baseball at KCKCC, earning the Mike Haen Hustle award and honorable mention All-Jayhawk honors as a sophomore. He continued his undergraduate work at Washburn University where he hit .396 and had a 3-0 pitching record in winning MVP honors as a senior. He holds a BA in Management of Recreation and Athletic Facilities from Ottawa University and a Masters in Education with concentration in coaching from Central Michigan. He returned to KCKCC as assistant baseball coach in the fall of 1993 and has also worked in the Wellness Center, Married in 1994, he and his wife, Diana, also a former KCKCC athlete, have two sons, Kaleb, 12; and Gehrig, 9.

Bill Sharp
Assistant Coach
Sharp is the only player to ever play every inning in his two years at KCKCC. As a freshman in 2004, he led the Blue Devils in hitting with a .371 average in 56 games and repeated at the hitting leader the next season with a .412 average, earning All-Jayhawk honors both seasons. A 2003 graduate of Liberty ( Mo.) High School, completed his playing career by earning All-MIAA Conference honors both as a junior and senior at Emporia State. In his fourth season as a Blue Devil assistant coach, Sharp is also a part-time employee with the Building and Grounds Department at KCKCC and coach the Kansas City Cougars tournament team the past two summers.

Osvaldo Mendez
Assistant Coach
OJ Mendez joined the Kansas City Kansas Community College baseball coaching staff in 2023. A talented left-handed pitcher and proud native of Carolina, Puerto Rico, Mendez had a standout collegiate career. He began at Wabash Valley College (2017–18), then pitched for KCKCC (2018–20), where in 2019 he earned All‑KJCCC Second Team honors and was named a Region VI Baseball Gold Glove recipient. He finished at Alabama State University (2020–23), contributing significantly to the Hornets’ 2022 SWAC Tournament Championship—notably delivering two scoreless innings in relief during the dramatic 14‑inning final. Mendez brings a deep competitive edge and regional acclaim to his coaching role, helping shape the next generation of Blue Devil pitchers.
