Head Coach
Shrader has taken eight teams to NJCAA national tournament. His 2004-05 team won the Region VI tournament and then finished second a year later in qualifying for the NJCAA national. A graduate of Wyandotte High School, Shrader was a member of the schools state basketball championship team in 1961 and the state championship track and field team in 1962. Earning a track scholarship to Kansas State, he competed in the pole vault and high jump before being called into military service and serving in Vietnam. Returning from the service, he earned a BA degree from National College in Rapid City, S.D. Prior to coming to KCKCC, Shrader was Director of Electric Operations for the Kansas City Kansas Board of Public Utilities. During his 34 years with the BPU, he was employee representative on the IBEW Executive Board and the Chairman of the Board of Pensions Trustees. He started coaching Little League baseball in 1977, served as a board member and chairman for the Wyandotte County Sports Association for 17 years; and been secretary-treasurer for the American Amateur Baseball Congress Executive Board. He has a son and daughter and five grandsons.
