Eduardo Rincon

Coach

Rincon oversees both the men's and women's tennis programs and has elevated the programs both on and off the court. During his three seasons as the head men's tennis coach, Rincon has compiled an overall record of 25-33 (.431).  During the 2015-16 season, Rincon and the Owls competed for the first time on the campus of Kennesaw State at the Betty L. Siegal Student Recreation & Activities Center. The womens program competed on its home court for the first time on Friday, Feb. 26 against Charleston Southern, while the mens competed on their home court on Sunday, Feb. 28 against Wofford. Under Rincons leadership, the mens program tied a single-season win mark with 10 match victories and finished 10-10 in 2016. The Owls continued their historic campaign by winning their opening round match in the A-Sun Championships, upsetting No. 3-seed Stetson to advance to the Semifinals for the first time in program history. The historic season led to multiple postseason awards, as Rincon guided three All-Academic A-Sun members Jake Bouchillon, David Durham, Drew Wendel and Simon Pritchard and a unanimous A-Sun First Team All-Conference member in Simon Pritchard. Rincon also led Manuel Castellanos and Sam Slade to the Second Team All-Conference team and Lucas de Torres Curth to the All-Freshman team. Since arriving at Kennesaw State, Rincon has improved the culture of the tennis team and is continuing to make strides towards turning the tennis program into a successful one. The successful campaign followed and improved 2014-15 season, in which the Owls advanced to the Atlantic Sun Conference Championships for the first time in program history. Kennesaw State finished the season with a 7-12 mark and a 2-4 record in conference play. Rincon guided Simon Pritchard and Alejandro Valencia to A-Sun Conference Player of the Week honors and helped Pritchard become the first Scholar Athlete award winner in program history. Under the leadership of Rincon, the Owls also had Valencia, Jorge Wilton and Manuel Castellanos earn postseason honors.   In his first year as head coach for the Owls, Rincon coached Atlantic Sun Academic All-Conference team member Jorge Wilton and Atlantic Sun All-Conference and All-Freshman team member Simon Pritchard.   Rincon came to Kennesaw after serving as the assistant mens tennis coach at the University of Arkansas for five years.   While at Arkansas, Rincon totaled 68 wins and six conference victories. He helped coach two All-Southeastern Conference players and one All-American in his time at the university, and during their 2012 and 2013 seasons, the Razorbacks were named an Intercollegiate Tennis Association Academic All-American team.   Prior to his time at Arkansas, Rincon worked as the assistant womens tennis coach at the University of Alabama for three seasons. In 2006 the Crimson Tide made an NCAA appearance, ranking number 39 in the nation.   Before beginning his coaching career, Rincon was a three-time All-American at Valdosta State University. Rincon was also named the Valdosta State Male Athlete of the Year in 2004 and the Gulf South Conference All-Decade Team in 2010.   In February of 2010, Rincon was inducted into Valdosta State Athletics Hall of Fame. On top of being an excellent collegiate athlete, Rincon toured professionally. As a native of Colombia, Rincon represented his home country in the Davis Cup from 1997 to 2001. Rincon also held ATP rankings in both singles and doubles for seven years.   His brother, Mario Rincon, is the head coach for men's tennis at the University of Miami.   Rincon is a certified instructor for the Professional Tennis Registry and a member of the United States Tennis Association (USTA). He and his wife Rosemary have two daughters, Ana Maria (7) and Kathryn Cristina (4).
