Grant Wallace
Head Coach
Wallace brings a wealth of coaching knowledge into his fourth year heading up Kenyon's golf team. Originally hired during the 2011-12 academic year to oversee the College's intramural and club sports programs, he gradually took over the golf program and has steadily improved the team during his time here. Last season, Wallace coached the Lords to two first-place finished and a third-place spot in the NCAC Championship Series. During the 2014-15 season, he helped steer the Lords to arguably their best season ever. The team had a pair of first-place finishes and six other top-three finishes. At the end of the season, Alex Blickle and Jake Fait became Kenyon's first-ever PING All-Great Lakes Region selections. In the meantime, Wallace was named NCAC Coach of the Year. In the 2012-13 season, he led the Lords to a fifth-place finish at the North Coast Athletic Conference Championship Series. The Lords also placed third or better in two of their first three tournaments of the season. During the spring schedule, Wallace and the Lords set a new program-best for lowest 18-hole score (294) at the Strimer Memorial Invitational, hosted by Ohio Wesleyan University. Kenyon garnered national attention toward the end of the year as well, receiving votes in the Golf World/Nike Golf Division III Coaches Poll for two consecutive weeks. This paired well with the Lords two All-NCAC selections, marking the first time since 1997 that the program boasted multiple honorees in a single season. An avid golfer who soon hopes to begin playing in amateur tournaments, Wallace is an ongoing student of the sport. He possesses an understanding of swing mechanics, course management, and the mental side of golf. In addition to serving as Intramural and Club Sports Coordinator at Kenyon, Wallace assisted the Lords baseball coaching staff in 2012, one season before taking over the College's golf program. With Wallace on the baseball staff, the Lords put up one of the most successful year's ever. The team finished 27-12 overall and earned a first-place finish in the NCAC East Division. Working with the Lords pitching staff, Wallace saw his pupils receive numerous accolades including three NCAC Pitcher of the Week honors, a D3baseball.com National Team of the Week selection, and an Academic All-American distinction. Wallace earned a masters of education degree at Bowling Green State University. While at BGSU, he worked closely with varsity teams and also advised several club sports teams, including baseball. In addition to his masters from BGSU, Wallace also holds a bachelor's degree in business administration from Sacramento State University.
