Head Coach

Morgan begins his fourth season as Head Cross Country and Track Coach after a tremendous career as a Flame runner. Morgan guided the Lee men's cross country team to the school's first ever GSC Championship in their very first year of eligibility. The Flames would go on to finish second in the South Region and 26th at the NCAA National Championship. At the end of the season Morgan was named the GSC Men's Cross Country Coach of the Year and GSC Men's Track and Field Coach of the Year. On the women's side the Lady Flames also exceled in year one of offical NCAA D2 competition. Lee finished second at the GSC championship and fourth at the South Region.  Morgan coached up Lee's first Track All-American in Adrian Martin in 2016. Martin took home the honor in both the 100 and 200 meter Dash.  Morgan graduated from Lee in the spring of 2011. While at Lee he became the first male to ever qualify and compete in the NAIA Indoor Track and Field Nationals. He also served as team captain for all four years and was a three time outdoor track national qualifier. Morgan had set the school record for the indoor mile (4:17.1), the outdoor 1500m (3.59.03) and the outdoor 800m (1:55.4). The indoor mile record is the only standard that remains. His other running achievements include 2012 Tennessee State Half-Marathon Champion (1:14.09) and the 2011 Georgia 10 miler State Champion (53:48). Under Morgan's leadership Lee has had 46 athletes reach All-American status (1 NCAA, 40 NCCAA, five NAIA). Men's cross country won the 2014 NCCAA National Championship and have won the 2014 (unofficial) and 2015 GSC Championships. The 2015 squad placed second in the NCAA South Regional and advanced to the NCAA National Championships where they finished 26th. Morgan is a native of Cleveland, Tenn. and attended Walker Valley High School. He is married to former Lee University runner Kristin Cretton and the couple has one son, Luke.
